Mel's Diner

It was ok both hubby and I had grilled ham and cheese with French fries. Food was extremely hot but there was only 1 other table . Lunch specials weren’t available yet when we ordered about 15 minutes to soon . If your hungry and want a sandwich or breakfast give it a try . A little pricy for quality but what isn’t anymore

Had an excellent breakfast at Mel's! So excited to have yummy grits with my eggs and bacon. And the biscuit was really good too.

Had breakfast while leaving Nags Head and heading north. Set up as a classical diner with all the signs and such you expect. We had a group of five and ordered a variety of eggs, pancakes and such. Service was good but not the quickest (they did have a warning sign out at the front). Waitress overall did a great job. Food was what I would call very good diner food. A nice stop on the way to the airport.

We were driving to the OBX and needed to eat. Seemed like a great place to try. We came in and they told us to sit wherever.. we did. No one took our drink order for 10 minutes. Okay, bc short staff every where, we get it. 2 more families came in during this time. After 20 minutes or so.. our order was taken. AFTER A FULL HR, and the other 2 families had been served and FINISHED their meals, we left. THEY NEVER MADE OUR FOOD We spent a total of 1 hr 10 minutes to get a coffee and tea. She didn't charge us for the drinks. The wait wouldn't have been so bad had two families not come in after us get served BEFORE us. All we ordered was an omelette no subs and hash browns add peppers. I wouldn't stop here again for FREE food. You'll starve before getting it. 👎

Yummy pot roast!! Sweet white haired lady took very good care of us! (Sorry I forgot her name) we will be back.

What a lovely diner. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy. GREAT staff, food and prices. Highly recommended by moi.

Ordered the BBQ sandwich and it was very good! They had 2 sauces and both were delicious. The portions are generous. The service was great and everyone was friendly! A great stop on the way to the beach! Their Reuben sandwich is very good!

fantastic experience. i went with my two small children and the server was just unbelievable with them, even getting my very stubborn three-year-old to eat. incredible.

If you like nostalgia, i.e., old license plates and posters from bygone days, this is the place. The food was great..the french fries were excellent. The service was a little slow but friendly.
