Beautiful spot to add to your trip.
Everything about it was charming and fun.
The little cottage offers a great selection of books and local souvenirs as well as a great selection of coffee, pastries and drinks.
There is a small sitting area at the front, but you may as well take that coffee for a walk and enjoy the beautiful shopping center and the view that you get from the docks.
The customer service was good.
The store was very busy but we visited early in the morning.
I had one of their specialty coffees made with caramel and hazelnut flavor and they were able to make it with oat milk and non sugar. It was delicious. My husband also enjoyed his pastry and coffee. My biscotti was amazing.
I'm making this a must stop for my Outer Banks trips, and if you are passing by, take a few minutes to stop here and enjoy this, little but full of life coffee shop.

Really awesome coffee and a cool vibe. Hard to beat the smell of coffee and books when you walk in! We got some coconut crunch to take home with us per the recommendation of our friends who live on the island - was definitely a great call. Highly recommend and we will be back next time we are in town.

We always check out local independent coffee shops whenever we are traveling. We love places that are combination coffee shops and book stores. Duck Cottage is very compact which can make it a challenge if you are there to look at books. The books are in the same area as the coffee line. The line for coffee can be lengthy but they do a good job of moving it along. The coffee is good. They have a few specialty lattes and lots of syrups. It's worth a stop while in town.

This place was AMAZING. We planned to go to another store but parked in front of Duck’s Cottage and decided to make a quick stop in in…it was the BEST decision we could have made. They had brand new books, signed copies (I got “I kissed Shara Wheeler”) and a great selection of several genres, especially considering how small the store is. The coffee was so great we went back later for more (I got the Nutty Duck.) They have decaf as well, and the people were fantastic. We had a lovely conversation and they were so nice about making any changes to coffee and even remembered our order two days later. All in all, it was quite possibly the best bookstore/coffee shop I’ve ever been to and I wish them nothing but the absolute best in the future!!

Simply the best coffee on the OBX, and probably in the Mid Atlantic area. Allen and his team are fantastic, the books are relevant, and I love their focus and support to true local artists and authors. My family and I have been coming for 41 years. Always are first, constant, and last stop.

Grab a tasty coffee and a good read here at this intimate little shop. There's a cozy atmosphere the moment you step in and realize the spaces are tight, the selection of books are deliberately picked and the baristas take their time to get their orders right. A stop here capped off our visit to the charming Waterfront Shops, and while I wish the muffin we ordered was a little more fresh and moist I have no complaints about the coffee and the people. In fact, the nice woman behind the counter went to extra lengths to double-check allergen information for us, and the other people in line were all to understanding of our concern. Just don't come in here expecting to place your usual Starbucks order. Read what's available on the blackboard and order yourself some delicious coffee.

I recently visited Duck’s Cottage, a delightful coffee shop and bookstore in Duck, North Carolina.
The decor of this place is super cute, and the combination of a coffee shop and bookstore creates a unique and cozy atmosphere.
The coffee itself was decently average and slightly overpriced, but still passable. My wife had the iced lavender latte, and I tried the nutty duck latte, both of which were delicious. The presentation of our drinks was delightful too!
Despite the slightly higher prices, the overall quality of the coffee was enjoyable. I would definitely consider visiting Duck’s Cottage again in the future for a cup of coffee and browsing through their book selection.
It’s a charming spot for coffee lovers and book enthusiasts alike!

This shop was a go-to for me during my regular trips to Duck over the past decade. The charming cottage and bookshelves made the slightly overpriced but delicious coffee worth the trip. However, the curt staff have been ruining my enjoyment of shop over that past year. During my last visit, I walked over to look at the different varieties of bagged coffee and the day’s muffin options. This was met with a sharp cashier telling me to get back in line. I was second in line at the time, with the first person currently ordering ahead of me. If the store was busy I could understand but, I was the only other person in the store at the time. The look the cashier gave me indicated that if I did not move, I would be yelled at again. Next, when I went to order my muffin and wanted a refill my Duck’s Cottage thermos, I was told that I would have to pay full price for coffee. When I purchased the thermos, I was told I would always get the refill price. With this in mind and having already been treated rudely, I did not buy any additional coffee for gifts. With the Kind Cup opening up in Corolla, I’m not sure I will be back. I used to always enjoy using my Duck’s Cottage thermos during my time away from the beach and fondly plan the next trip to Duck. I find myself using my other thermos options whenever possible because my fond memories of visits to the cottage are now tainted.

Everywhere I travel I have to find a local bookstore. This one did not disappoint! A small collection, but good selection especially of “beach reads.” As a bonus, they have a coffee shop inside. Don’t skip the baked goods, either!

I ordered a vanilla iced latte and a banana nut muffin, so simple, but it was honestly so good! Every time I visit a town on vacation, this is exactly what I order and it tastes different every time. This place made it so well and the banana nut muffin was excellent!! The atmosphere inside is nice and cozy. I loved it!
