Mel's Diner

Friendly, fast service. Breakfast was good!

First of all, I was driving a Class C camper and turned around to stop at Mels because cars were parked, and I wanted a local burger leaving the Outer Banks. Glad I did! Chef grilled the 1/2 lb perfectly and added tomato mushrooms and Swiss cheese. I added onion rings.
I nibbled it as I drove the camper, but I should’ve eaten it there. Best thick burger in a long time!
Will return.

We really enjoyed our visit, today, food was good, service was just tremendous, the server, was friendly and very helpful with us deciding what we should order. Even the customers we interacted with were very friendly. We will definitely be going back!

We eat breakfast a couple to 3 times a week here and it's always great food great service by ms. Ella. She is a staple to this exquisite little diner. The decor never with all of the old signs and cool stuff never disappoints, so that's good food, great service, and cool decor equals a great dining experience in my book but see fir yourself!!!😁

Nice atmosphere, lots to look at inside. Food was good, service was good. Only disappointment was them not having the lemon or coconut meringue pies advertised on the tabletop dessert menu.

Very good food! Had breakfast. Waitress was super nice. Toke a little while to get our food,but it was worth the wait! Will definitely stop in again.

I have been forced unwillingly to come to this monstrosity of a restaurant for a few years in the past. Everytime my family wanted to go here I would beg them to choose somewhere different because if I wanted to eat food that was microwaved I would’ve just gotten a banquet meal at the nearest food lion in the frozen section. Any item on this menu is the most horrible thing you will ever put into your mouth. I highly dislike this place and I wouldn’t even recommend this to my worst enemy. I only recommend this place to rats and roaches. The only good thing about this place is you get to see them cook it! They pop that bad boy right in the microwave in front of you and show you how it’s cooked! Isn’t that awesome?!?

Good food, reasonably priced, nice nostalgic flair. We plan to visit everytime we come to the OBX
