Review of Café Du Monde Riverwalk

Café Du Monde Riverwalk: A New Orleans Icon

Café Du Monde Riverwalk is a satellite location of the iconic Café Du Monde, which has been serving beignets and café au lait since 1862. Located at 500 Port of New Orleans Pl, New Orleans, LA 70130, this coffee shop is a must-visit for tourists and locals alike.

The café is open seven days a week, with slightly different hours on Sundays. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the service is fast. The café is located inside the outlet mall, but there is also an entrance from outside on the Riverwalk.

The beignets are the star of the show, and they are served fresh and hot. A typical order consists of three beignets, which are golden brown and covered with tons of powdered sugar. They are sweet and delicious, and they pair perfectly with the café's signature café au lait. The coffee is unique and has a distinct flavor due to the addition of chicory.

The atmosphere at Café Du Monde Riverwalk is lively and bustling. The café is always busy, but the staff does an excellent job of moving people in and out quickly without being pushy. The jazz group out on the street adds to the wonderful breakfast experience.

While some customers have complained about the service and the cleanliness of the café, most agree that the beignets are worth the visit. The café is cash-only, so be sure to bring some cash with you.

If you are in New Orleans, Café Du Monde Riverwalk is a must-visit. The beignets are excellent, the coffee is unique, and the atmosphere is lively. Don't miss out on this New Orleans icon!

Watch the beignets get tossed into the deep fryer and enjoy the powdered sugar covered French doughnuts.

Some tips:
Don’t inhale when eating a beignet
Don’t wear dark colored clothing. The powdered sugar gets everywhere
Ask for the sugar and doughnuts to be separate if you’re getting them to go

I accidentally went to the wrong place the first time to get beignet (both were green signs) and was really disappointed with it. But the next day i decided to try it again. This was everything I expected! It wasn't soaked in oil at all, it was 100% way better than the other one i had. Had 1 and wanted more. Coffee was good too. It comes in 3s when you order and perfect size, IMO.

THE best Beignets EVER! They practically melt in your mouth with buttery and sugar delight. the coffee is perfect, and the tea is excellent! The river walk right outside is so close to the cruise lines. Walking distance from our hotel and the artwork displayed around is a sight to behold! Willing to go to New Orleans again just for more!!

Beignets were fantastic! Atmosphere is fun but service strategy is a bit chaotic/confusing. If you can snag a table, that's the best way to do it. No organized line for tables. Once seated, staff were great!

Tried their beignets at this location and French Market. They were delicious over 20 years ago but the quality and taste have diminished. It's doughy, cakey taste is not desirable. After one beignet, I was done and threw the others away. I've had better at Loretta's.

These beignets are huge and if you don’t eat them right away they get rubbery hours later, so eat them while they are hot, powdery, and fresh! I was disappointed in the cafe au latte which was too earthy and tasty like dirty old water to me but I guess that’s what chicory is suppose to taste like 🤷‍♀️

Yummy beignets and coffee, nice staff. Got a mug too! Very historical though the beignets were very sugary, would recommend to tourists

Excellent beignets and coffee. Not as touristy as the one near Jackson square and not long lines! Beignets are delicious and not very greasy.

There is nothing like the experience of the original location, although this one is conveniently located at the Riverwalk. It feels more like the fast food cafeteria version. The beignets were a bit dense in the middle but they had souvenir cups that was a nice touch

Hot and fresh beignets (basically a denser version of a donut); the powdered sugar was a bit excessive for me so I recommend asking for less beforehand, or vehemently dusting it off after regretting your choices. Another hack for minimizing diabetes is to get it in a 'for here' instead of a 'togo' where I found a lump of sugar slapped in. Cafe au lait was alright, tastes like cheap drip coffee, and would not recommend getting the slushie version, it's sweetened.
