Bread and pastries here are amazing. Lucy helped me when I was there, very respectful, knowledgeable and kind, her service was just the best and made the experience even sweeter.

Their best items are the chocolate croissants and the chocolate eclairs however the quality is extremely inconsistent. Their espresso offerings are excellent however the quality is also very inconsistent. Don’t print your receipt because there has been sabotage after they look at the tip (15% of $30 = $4.50 and for that we received an oat milk latte that was all milk and no coffee with tons of sugar, the drink isn’t supposed to come with sugar.) The sandwiches and egg dishes were not what we were expecting, the breakfast items like the quiche & croque monsieur went soggy after they heated them and the eggs are still cold. The quality of the ham is very poor especially for the price.) The best quiche and espresso on the Monterey Peninsula are at Parker-Lusseau Pastries near the aquarium. We’ve tried ALL the French patisserie’s on the peninsula, they are the best. If you can, go there. Lafayette has gotten so many of our orders wrong, they complain about customers in front of customers, when the owner isn’t there, it’s worse. She is a lovely person but she could benefit a lot from studying her competition. We hope this feedback is helpful to both customers and the owner.

This place is delicious. While on vacation to Carmel we wanted to get out of the craziness of the downtown area so we looked for coffee places outside of that. I’m glad we found this place though, we’ve been 2x during our week for lattes, quiche for breakfast, and their sandwiches for lunch. Everything was so good and totally worth a trip for either breakfast or lunch!

We got here a bit late (around 2pm) and the place was almost sold out. We had a prosciutto sandwich that was really good. Looking forward to trying to going here again at an earlier time so we can try more.

Quiche is great, 2nd best I ever eat, the #1 was in Paris in one restaurant

The food was great. Everyone has a bad day, maybe the lady at the register was going through something. She was very rude and condescending. I won't be going back as the experience left us feeling unwelcome there.

Amazing bakery. So good. Great place to grab a quick bit of some amazingly good pastry. Keep up the great work.

Enjoyed a small smoked salmon sandwich, ham and cheese croissant and a pear nest with a coffee. My God. This was the PERFECT start to our day. Absolutely perfect.

French style... Fresh baked, yummy pastries. Go early for more variety. Lovely place!

I’ve been coming here for years and I’m sad to say but things have really declined.

The bread and pastry used to be exceptional, I bought pastries for literally every guest who ever came by. These days I’ll come here for a baguette but nothing much else.

Also the friendly staff is now gone and has been replaced by some characters who are very cur.
