No ambiance or character. Pastries look amazing, i got the ham and cheese croissant, the lady warmed it for me. She was all business, not friendly but not terribly rude. Had a coffee with oat milk. The only down side is there is no place to sit and enjoy your pastry, more of a grab and go place. I always go to Alta Bakery and Cafe, but wanted to try something new and near the Mission Ranch where i am staying. I was able to sit on the lovely Farm house and enjoy my breakfast and coffee. The ham and cheese croissant is amazing!! But in the future I will stick to what I know and love 'Alta bakery off Muras ave in Monterey, it is worth the drive f om Carmel, 10 min.

East 5 stars. I visited w/ family and we had 2 blueberry squares and 1 pistachio raspberry tart. It was very good ( as usually). They also sell sandwiches, croissants, Plamiers, snails (not real ones, of course). So good. Will visit again.

Tucked away from busy main drag of Carmel. Lafayette bakery and cafe is a must visit place if you are in town.
Exceptional baked goods and tasty French pastries. The price is so reasonable as well considering right in the heart of Carmel.
Everything is so tasty which reminds me so much of those bakeries in South of France.
If you are planning to bring some pastries home, GO EARLY. After our second attempt and arrived there at around 10ish, they were selling out things quickly.
I love their olive bread and the pear nest, it’s so delicious. We left the bakery with bags and boxes😁😁😁

perfect for breakfast/ bakery in carmel. We went there around 11:30am but it was busy and many ready made food was gone, so recommend to go in early.

Absolutely LOVEEEEE the Lafayette Bakery! One of my absolute favorite bakeries in all of Monterey area. The customer service is so great and I love the small town home local vibe to it. I ordered pastries from them for the morning of my wedding and they were so friendly and nice. I also had put this as a must visit on our wedding website for our out of town guest staying at the Carmel Mission Inn next door. All my family that went to the bakery couldn't stop raving about how good it was. They ended up going every morning during their visit. Not only are their pastries good, but you MUST try their mini sandwiches.

The quiches from here are excellent! They have a couple of different varieties and will heat them up for you if you'd like! They're so fluffy and tasty! Definitely a fairly portioned meal. They also have sandwiches, sweet/savory pastry options, macaroons, and tiny slices cakes. They all looked very tasty. No prices next to the item labels so be prepared to be surprised.

Pastries are amazing, I love the almondines and ham and cheese croissants if I can get there early enough. But the cherry bichon is my favorite!

A genuine five-star. Get there early to ensure a good selection. Expect less sugar, more flavor, and craftsmanship of real experts. I wish I had such a place near where I live. I always go here when in town. A caution: if there's a pastry you like, don't get it here because you'll be forever disappointed.

What a great little bakery. So many choices, all looking delicious. We got the ham and swiss mini baguette and it was just the right amount and completely delicious. I highly recommend this place. Not much indoor seating but that wasn't a big deal. Oh, the pastries and desserts....wanted one of everything but as strong, lol, and resisted

Underwhelming coffee and baked goods. We asked to warm the quiche and croissant. She said “If I haven’t offered to heat something it means I can’t”. Cool, you offered to heat the quiche and it was ice cold in middle. The vibe I got here was superbly snotty. And the quality of food made it worse.
