Stopped at Stella's for coffee and a couple dishes for a later breakfast. We ordered the breakfast skillet, breakfast burrito, and two Buttermilk waffle dishes. All were take out. To start with, the food took an awfully long time to be made for the amount of food we received (rather small portions). After opening our orders, we discovered that the waffles were missing the cinnamon espresso butter (which is why we ordered the waffles), the skillet was missing bacon, and the burrito was missing chorizo. Even though the coffee was good, and the waffle batter used was rather tasty, we were rather disappointed in our meal and were expecting more/our orders to be complete. Giving two stars for there were a couple good things, but this was not a satisfactory experience.

This past Saturday I ordered some food from Café Stella in the Ghent location of Norfolk Virginia and I received the food in a reasonable timeframe. The employee processing my order was cordial and some of the delish foods included carrot cake and a delish cheese and meat mix that included olives goat cheese blue cheese marmalade pickles peppers, some type of spicy deli meat, red bell pepper etc.

If you enjoy the smell and taste of fresh roasted coffee from all over the world, this is the place to go. The owners take great pride in every thing they make all while making you feel at home. Ambiance, price & cleanliness are all packed in to this fantastic coffee experience.

Loved the atmosphere, has something for everyone. Husband and I enjoyed a light breakfast. 10/10 recommend the Israeli eggs and lavender latte. My soul was satisfied with the pleasant combination of music, lighting, variety of decor, food, drink, and of course the company wasn't half bad ;)

My friend took me here for the first time today and it was the WORST. Food is good and the coffee is amazing but the Owner is RUDE! My friend and I were in line waiting for our food to be ordered and the Owner was belittling his coworker in front of us and degrading her. The coworker was the sweetest one in the store! She was kind and lovely but the way the Owner treated her was nonsense. When I got my food I asked for more maple syrup and he said “have you never been here before” which I haven’t but he walked away and didn’t get me more maple syrup for my French toast. The owner shouldn’t have been rude to me since I asked politely for more syrup since they are small portions of syrup. Also there was this other customer that was asking for a free cup of water and the Owner said it’s only for the “paying customers.” The Owner is the reason why I’m not coming back! Don’t recommend.

Ordered a 2 drinks and a breakfast burrito to go. Got my drinks and waited for over 25 minutes for my food. Flagged down a worker who spent 5 minutes trying to figure out what’s going on. Apparently my ticket got lost somehow. No apologies or anything. Drinks were cold by the time I got my food and left. The coffee here is very good, I genuinely like it here but this is just terrible service.

I love this place. It’s my neighborhood favorite and I eat here at least once a week and the food, service and atmosphere are amazing, but for heaven’s sake the portion sizes please make them larger and just charge a bit more.

Food was good, service was good. Their menu had al decent amount of options to choose from, foods, teas, coffees and other beverages they craft. Would definitely visit them again and recommend this place for a stop.

I've been coming here for at least two years now and it's a great community of good folk and welcoming individuals. It's a sight for sore eyes amidst these bars and other hangout lounge spots.

I am not one to write bad reviews but this place was just something. I was introduced to cafe stella by my friend and for the first couple of times, I ordered something small because I was hungry and had work to do. It has a great ambiance and most of the staff is nice. It is always crowded (not a complaint) and a good vibe. The other day, while waiting on my friend, I was told I 1. couldn't have my kombucha (something they do not serve on their menu). But, not a problem, I asked if she would rather me put it in my car and she told me no, your backpack is fine. She then tells me the table is for paying customers only and to go ahead and order something if I wanted to stay. I thought this was weird because no other cafe has a problem with people just coming in to a cool place to do work. I told her okay. Three minutes later, my friend came to join me. She said she was going up to order food but then came back saying that she would wait a minute because there wasn't anybody at the counter. Not 30 seconds after she sat down, the owner comes up to us and (very rudely) says, "Are you going to order something?" and as my friend was explaining the situation he interrupts her and says (again, very rudely), "You don't order with me, you order at the counter. This table is for paying customers only." I was appalled to put it simply. When my friends food came back, it was flavorless and dry. Even the man sitting next to us told us that he was being unnecessarily rude and that people come to Cafe Stella all the time without ordering anything. As an athlete who has very long days and am in search of a nice coffee shop or cafe to work later into the night, I will not be back here. I understand the whole small business thing but sometimes, I don't want or need anything to eat, just somewhere local with a good environment to do my work. I saw that the owner mentioned in another response that it was not a library. While I agree, it is a cool place to come sit and work in a busy environment (I can't do work in silent, still places). Anyway, I will not be back here. He could make Cafe Stella a booming environment where everyone feels welcome. But, that is obviously not the case. The place is always packed, me not spending $3.50 on a dry muffin is not going to send you out of business but it will lead me to writing bad reviews and telling my friends to not consider eating or studying here. There are many beautiful cafes and coffee shops around Ghent who would be happy to allow me a safe space to get my work done without the pressure of purchasing subpar food.
