Tons of drink and food options, including dairy free and vegetarian, large interior and exterior seating sections, good service, good music, good wifi. Good prices too! There's parking on the street and around back.
I got a rooibos chai latte with oat milk.

Awesome catch-up sesh and people-watching spot plus legit brew to boot. Spacious and urban chic while evoking that mid-late 90's First Colony Coffeehouse rebirth of cool vibe. Defaults to my new go-to spot next time I'm back in town.

We initially went to Starbucks but it was closed for only drive thru, so we walked across the street to Cafe Stella and bought cafe mocha and latte. They are the best! I recommend. And creamer then Starbucks!

Great atmosphere and drinks were good. The staff member who took our order was so friendly. Lately it seems like that’s lacking in service jobs. It’s refreshing to find a coffee shop other then Starbucks that stays open late. I’m looking forward to returning.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. However, we will go with 1. As a Norfolk resident and someone who has patronized this business on several occasions, how I was treated today was inexcusable! I’m not one to leave reviews but he seems to be okay calling our encounter “fake news” as my community has come together to support me in sharing my experience. I have set up at this coffee shop many times before. I always order coffee, tea, or a pastry when I set up shop to do work there. Tonight in an effort to set up and get settled BEFORE ordering, I asked a gentleman (who I now know to be the owner) for the WiFi password. He very rudely expressed that it was for paying customers. I said okay I’m going to get something, I’ve been here before so just setting up(there was a line by the way). He then rudely reiterates the policy. I said “No worries, it’s cool,” as I proceed to get in the line. He says “I’m not worried I’m telling you the policy.” I expressed “I got it!” When I get to the register I ask the young lady was he the owner/manger she says yes. I was like “oh okay he was kinda rude, let me get myself together..” he then came over and starts speaking very rude to me and we exchange words back and forth and the final straw was when he told me basically that he was annoyed with me and to “go look in the mirror (pointed to a space in his establishment) so that way I can see what he sees (as to why he’s annoyed)!!!! I then grabbed my things and left! I’ve read a few reviews and it’s apparent that this man has some issues. Some of the same instances have been experienced with other women of color and that’s unfortunate. As a small business in our community, we should all be treated with dignity and respect. I’ve spent my money here before on several occasions but as of today….they will not see another dime. I would suggest if you’re a person of “color” it may not be in your best interest to visit this establishment.

The atmosphere is cute, the coffee is alright and the general staff is super nice but the manager, some tall guy i don't know if he is also the owner- is always sooooo rude! We used to go to this cafe all the time but we've seen him be extremely rude, sarcastic and dismissive with the employees and he has been a total a-hole to customers as well. He's clearly someone who hates his life and is taking it out on the people around him. There are other better, nicer, and less expensive coffee shops around Ghent that are way more worth it and nobody there treats you like garbage.

Great atmosphere and even better coffee. The staff was great and the owner/roaster even let me try some of his more rare beans. Plenty of places to sit too. Highly recommend!

I always enjoyed coming to Cafe Stella for a hot double mocha, I would give the coffee alone a 5-star rating. However, I wanted to come by today with my boyfriend and my dog to enjoy my birthday at my favorite coffee shop, although, today’s experience was mediocre to say the very least. The barista (did not get her name, however was white complected with short dark brown hair) working spoke rudely and loudly in front of the huge line in front of us as well as the busy restaurant to tell us that dogs weren’t allowed inside. Which we understand completely, but from a customer’s perspective, the tone and approach could have been so much better. We had just walked in and wanted to see the menu to figure out what we wanted before going outside. The same barista then proceeded to speak to three young women standing behind me to tell them that they needed to leave because they had brought Starbucks into the cafe. Again, perspective of a customer, that behavior does not depict a cafe that is welcoming and inviting to paying customers. The experience gets worse. We wait for our food for over 40 minutes just for the order to be wrong. My boyfriend was already upset at this point because of how poorly the barista treated us, he then spoke to the cashier (stated he had only been there for a month) to get the matter addressed. After he had come back to the table with his fixed order, the same rude barista came to our table to tell my boyfriend to leave because he had “cursed” and was “aggressive” at her staff, which he was NOT. The conversation between her and I included a lot of hearsay on their end. After I explained how upset we were from how she spoke to us in the beginning, to the wait for the food AND for the order to be wrong, there was not a single empathic response. The whole situation was handled poorly and I hope that management sees this review to help improve the way the staff speaks to prospective and returning customers. I really enjoyed the coffee and the environment of this cafe, but not sure if I’ll come back. This was truly the worst experience I’ve ever had a coffee shop in Virginia.

Few eating establishments in the area provide the following: affordability, delectability, high optionality, tranquility, cleanliness, and a charming atmosphere. Café Stella bears all of this, and I find that I am frequenting it more often: my wallet doesn't suffer, my ears aren't strained from loud or obnoxious music (on the contrary, there is a grand piano that hosts local pianists), I can chat and hear myself think, and, if you are looking to get some work done, this is the place to do it outside of the usual academia-type institutions.

Check out the new double-the-size space!
This relaxed gathering place with a very local feel is sure to become a favorite for you as it has for us. A varied blend of vegetarian and non options.
Like Portland, OR for the East Coast: the offbeat vibe, the fabulously fresh coffees and teas, the distinctive foods that are anything but cliche. Refreshingly quirky.
I love the quinoa fruit bowl; he goes for something with egg and meat. We make breakfast a regular event here, carrying out a few baked goods for tomorrow. Try the London Fog tea latte with lavender and vanilla. Unquestionably the best one we have ever encountered. Don’t miss out.
Today, we were delighted to find an acoustic guitarist. Absolutely a perfect addition.
