Cafe Rio Mexican Grill

We arrived at 8:45pm and they close at 10pm but they had all the chairs up on the table as well as all the food pulled out and ready to put away. They did not make the tortilla fresh. They were also out of a few items. The food tasted okay but nothing was really warm. In the past they have been good but last night was terrible. We had to take down 2 chairs to be able to eat and they were sweeping around us. I felt like they wanted us to leave.

I was not a fan of the food we ordered. I did like they were making the flour tortillas in front of you and they were big enough.

Another great entry to to Cafe Rio franchise. They have a great Tuesday deal.

Employees were rude and disrespectful. Had to fight with them just to get the things that were supposed to come in my meal. Food was good but I do not recommend visiting

Extremely simple order of chips and salsa ordered online for curbside. Parked in the correct space and waited 10 minutes. Nobody came out so I called the store. They said they would be out in a few minutes. I then saw them locking the door because they were closing so I rushed in and my order was sitting on the counter. When I explained to them that I've been outside waiting for 20 plus minutes for my curbside order and had called the lady said "we got busy." I don't understand how they were too busy to bring me my chips and salsa but I saw them run several orders out to other people. I understand that mistakes happen but just apologize. Not only did I give them a chance to make it right by calling them but then when I went into the store as they were locking it the lady did not apologize then either. We visited Vernal on a family vacation and everybody in this town is extremely friendly I was very disappointed in the service of this place. It appears to be a chain which is why I say you should always go local if you can.

Great tasting food, quickly served. It is a bit overpriced for the quantity. The tortillas are fresh and some of the best I've had.

I really enjoyed my meal here. I ate chicken enchiladas that were as good as I make at home. The spices were just right. My wife and daughter had tacos and joined me in the clean plate club. Good job, Cafe Rio!

I'm writing this in August of 2020, prime COVID-19 time. So if you care about mask wearing, DO NOT COME HERE. 1 employee was wearing their mask correctly, but 4 wore them terribly ineffectively, 1 employee kept taking hers off, and 1 didn't even have a mask at all! Not a single other customer was wearing a mask either (out of maybe 15 we saw inside the restaurant).

The service in general was horrendous as well—we ordered takeout through the website and one of the meals was entirely missing. We had to call and get it made as they hadn't even started it. They were hostile about the order and didn't want to make it at first. Eventually they made it and refunded it but we had no real desire to go back into that infection zone.

The food is decent, not bad, not the best Mexican food I've had. But the terrible service and cleanliness makes it an overall 1/5 stars.

Edit: Just realized they forgot my side of grilled steak as well! Disappointing.

I'll start with saying that I haven't had a bad experience here, so that's not why I only give them 4 stars. There's a couple things that set it back in my opinion.
I'm not a fan of the atmosphere. The music is usually a little louder, too loud for most normal conversions. With as busy as it usually is, the layout isn't quite right. It leaves the whole feel too busy and noisy.
The food has always been ok, but it's far from authentic Mexican. All the dishes I've tried were too sweet for my liking, and were not intended to be sweet.
That said it is better than other "Mexican food" places that I've tried. Their tortillas are always great, and the house dressing is pretty darn good. The smoked salmon tacos have been my favorite so far.
I love the fact that they will support law enforcement and firefighters and give a huge discount, that is only reason I will give them 4 stars instead of 3.
Overall I'll keep eating here now and then for some decent food, but it's not always my go to.
