We always enjoy brunch here. Hubby loves the shashuska I typically get the salmon and lox. If I'm being picky I would love to see more items on the menu. Folks are friendly and welcoming. Never disappointed!

Came in on a Saturday morning for breakfast and got seated pretty quickly. Ordered a Vanilla Latte and the Corned beef hash. It was really tasty but a little spicy for my taste lol. My kids LOVED the robot cat that brings out the food! Every time they saw it they lost their marbles lol. Keep in mind thought they don't have a kids menu but we just ordered the Waffle Plate which comes with 2 so we split it for them and added a side of eggs.

Cant wait to come back again!

Very cute breakfast place in downtown McKinney. Its not very large inside, but its well designed and the food is great and the coffee is amazing. On a sunny day its gorgeous on their little sidewalk patio.

This was my first time reading here, and I really enjoyed it. The Migas was flavorful and had just the right amount of textures. The little robot food delivery system was cute, but couldn't quite make it to our table. Luckily a server was right there to help us out.

Save your time and your money…DO Not eat here! The service is fast, but do not mistake fast service with a lack of care for customer experience. Let’s start with their effort to make their patrons feel welcomed. They fail. We had a reservation. Part of my party arrived on time while two ran behind. The manager did not allow us to sit at the table until we were all there and threatened us with losing the reservation. However, the reservation was confirmed and part of the party was there. When we were all there, the first thing that came out of the manager’s mouth was “You are late”….I get it… sorry for those who were late but some were ready to be seated and order food and drinks! The place was actually losing money by not assigning us a table asap. Poor system..…As to FOOD..it is OK.. there are better breakfast places. I am sure you can cook a better breakfast at home. Now the worst part…Service and Management. The staff wants to turn around tables as fast as they can..Your food will come out fast. The minute you put your flatware down, the table will be cleared and you will get your bill. Do not dare to ask for more coffee or water because they will give you a to-go cup! In sum, if you want to have breakfast you will be better off eating a breakfast sandwich at Chick-fil-A where it is their “pleasure” to assist you. If you are looking to catch up with family or friends, you should go to a different place downtown McKinney or invite them to your home so you can enjoy catching up with them. To clarify, this is not my first visit to Layered. I’ve been there a few times because I like to support local businesses. We have always been rushed, but I thought to give this place another chance. This time was the worst. The manger asked my party to actually pay, leave, and have respect for others waiting. There was no one waiting, and even if there was anyone I saw other tables available. Please go somewhere else.

First time there, with my daughter, for my birthday brunch. Food was delicious and I had the coffee, it was also delicious. The Robot delivered our food, what a great experience.

Really bizarre experience. Watched tables (including ours) go unattended for 30+ minutes while staff was chatting with a group of regulars (friends?). Overheard a table passive aggressively trash talking other customers with a waiter laughing. I guess everyone who eats & works here knows each other? Unless you are on a first name basis with someone who works here don't expect any level of service. Again, super super weird experience. Good mimosa deal though.

This place is fine, laid back vibe. Robot is cute, but more importantly, I think it's great because it means servers don't have to have the wear and tear on their wrists carrying heavy plates! Servers have always been very friendly, but my two complaints- 1. Restroom is okay but could be cleaner (dingy walls and knobs, no paper towels). 2. I like hot coffee but the carafe just lets the coffee get cold and even though the server tried his best to serve me hot coffee, it was just lukewarm. He did go and get some steamed milk which helped, but it's not like Starbucks level hot coffee that stays hot even with creamer. I know, I'm being a little picky, but a great cup 'o joe is a deal maker or breaker for a place serving breakfast.
Other than that, polenta pancakes were okay, migas were good. Nothing that blew me away. I've been three times now, and I didn't truly love it enough to be a regular patron here. The nighttime speakeasy has cool vibes but the kitchen closed a bit too early, in my opinion, so we ended up having to go get food somewhere else, and I believe it was maybe only 10pm on a Friday night.

Reservation was made at 930am on a Saturday. At 1040am, 1hr and 10 min later, we were asked to leave with food and drinks still on our table. The manager was very rude and more worried about the guests waiting than us. The manager then claimed we had been sitting there for 2.5 hours, which was clearly false. When I tried to reason with the manager and explain that we had only been there for a little over an hour, he did not believe us and would not go check our reservation.

Absolutely terrible and unprofessional behavior by the manager and one of his waitstaff. You never ask a guest to leave because you had poor planning.
