Clear River Ice Cream, Bakery & Deli is an absolute gem!The ice cream is a must-try! There are so many flavors to choose from, and they're all made with high-quality ingredients. The bakery is also fantastic. And let's not forget about the deli! The sandwiches are delicious.
But what really sets Clear River Ice Cream, Bakery & Deli apart is the hospitality. Jim and John, the owners are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience and feel welcome.

Going into this quaint ice cream shop with a retro feels like yesteryear of a simpler time. Their choice of ice cream is immense and seems limitless. It would have been nice to sample a couple of flavors like many ice cream shops do. But at the moment, they are not allowed to give samples probably due to covid but not sure. We decided to go with a single scoop of Pralines & Cream in a waffle come. It was absolutely delicious. Next time, I will try their peach ice cream because it seems only appropriate since it's in Fredericksburg. The place was packed with many people who had the same idea of getting a cold treat to cool off during the heat of the day. Fun place for both kids and adults.

On the way back from Enchanted Rock we went to Fredericksburg, after checking the reviews thought of trying the homemade ice cream. We ordered Amaretto Peach & Pecan, Peach & Pecan and Vanilla. Lot of treats at this 1950’s ice cream place, friendly staff, many choices of selection, quick service. Highly recommend this place 👍👍👍

Old fashioned soda shop. We had peach cobbler, lemonade, and a coffee shake. All were very good. Next time we're in town and looking for a sweet treat, we'll be going to this cute shoppe on Main Street.

They are famous for their ice cream in Fredericksburg. I had a Mocha as I wanted something hot.

The cafe is nicely decorated but it is very crowded although they serve pretty fast. As they prepare food in front of you it is a bit noisy. Overall it was a great experience with great tasting coffee and ice cream.

Visiting from out of state. First time trying and it was yummy! Went back the next day for another treat.

Location: right on main street. Gps will take you there. There is free parking on the street, but depending on when you go, it can fill up. Even so, parking a ways down and walking shouldn't be too far of a walk. There is also a public parking lot nearby, across from Pasta Bellas.

Atmosphere: cute, diner style look with old fashioned decor. Booths inside. It can easily get crowded inside with limited seating. The way the tables and counter is set up feels a bit too close/cluttered to me. I feel like I'm always in someone's way due to the layout. As soon as you walk in, you may be running into someone.

Service: Very friendly and open to samples of the ice cream. I never felt rushed by the staff.

Food: ice cream (many many flavors), floats, nachos, sandwiches, cookies, salads, potatoes, coffee, baked goods, etc. We tried the cotton candy ice cream and it was one of the best cotton candy flavors I've tried. Also got a chocolate chip cookie and they are huge!

Price: depends on what you get. Cookies ran about $3; salads $12; sandwiches $13; potatoes $13; medium ice cream was about $7.

Overall, a cool stop. We enjoyed our sweets and recommend checking it out. They have a little bit of everything for everyone.

We have been going here from Houston now for 15 years. A great place for food, ice cream and atmosphere!
We've had our kids pictures on the rocking horse outside the door for 15 years

I had Salted Caramel and Vanilla, and I have to say it was some of the best salted caramel I've had! Definitely would go back and thought it was worth the wait.

Only issue is the pricing. Three of us went on a Wednesday in March 2023 and there weren't a lot of tourists. The place is fine, the service was fine, and no other issues. My reaction was paying $23.50 for 1 large cup of ice cream, 1 medium cup of ice cream, a cookie, and a coffee. Both the large and medium ice cream sizes were smallish. I had a $20 bill out and was a bit taken back when the server said that will be $23.50. Later, I tried going online to see what the pricing is, but there aren't any prices with the online menu. Overall, not the end of the world, but it left an impression that I will remember for next time.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and was quite surprised. Figured that in the middle of the tourist rows of shops we would have an "OK" at best experience but service and food was great for this type of place. I wasn't that hungry so I opted for a latte and a sausage kolache. My wife went for a turkey club. You place your order and then they call you to come get it. However, when my latte was done it was promptly brought to my table and then the food just a few minutes later. It's just that extra bit of paying attention that moves the whole experience up a notch. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich- she is not a huge bread fan but she raged on how wonderful it was. I was told by another shop we visited that they make it fresh daily. I can't verify that but when my wife is happy, that carries the day! Nothing fancy but certainly a good stop for a quick bite.
