My first morning in Fredericksburg I wanted to find a coffee shop so I walked from my AirBnB and am so happy I found this one!!! It is my favorite shop on Main St. For the price, the coffee was ok, the pastry was delicious and the barista was super friendly. The vibe inside the shop was amazing! The music, the offerings and displays - that is what you are paying for. A bit boho, a bit modern and all sprinkled with French inspiration. I wanted to buy everything...but can't because it is priced accordingly for the quality of the items and it being a tourist boutique. I have been visiting daily to figure out what I AM going to buy because there's just too many unique items to pass up.
Because there are so many beautiful and fragile things displayed in the shop (see photos) with some areas that are a tighter to walk through, I would suggest families with children who have not been trained to practice self-restraint, stay in the outside seating areas while adults take turns to peruse the shop. I would agree that the shop is not catered to strollers or children that are not able to behave - but honestly, as mamma - I would have a hard time enjoying taking everything in if I was stressing about my child breaking something, even if they did keep their hands to themselves.
As I said before, this is my favorite shop and every day I have visited I find new things I skimmed over on a previous visit. LOVE it and if you're ever in Fredericksburg, you should check it out...even if you don't grab a coffee.
Back again: Got a capp and it was delicious! The cheese Danish was also a delight. Different barista but very friendly as well. Still 5 stars!
Definitely a hidden gem. The owners were very friendly and knowledgeable with their products. You must make a stop and support this beautiful place. I had cafe con miel and chocolate croissant. Just tell them what you want and they’ll suggest a few ideas. We’ll be back 🤗
Great coffee shop with more shopping for nik-nacks. We were able to get a delicious cappuccino while we rested our feet and our pups inside. The barista was very friendly.
My only complaint is that I expected they'd have cream from the window decal (pictured in review) but they were out. Not enough of a complaint to take away a star from the review. Regardless, the coffee was awesome and the atmosphere relaxing.
(Please give me a thumbs up if you found this review helpful.)
First off, beautiful place! Enjoyed my latte in a real mug (optional). The baked goods are made in house. My croissant was soft & buttery. Speaking of butter, I got a real pad of butter to eat with my (warmed) croissant. That is always a real treat and I will go back to a coffee shop that has good baked goods and gives me real butter. 5⭐
After you sip and chat with your friends up front, take a stroll through the gorgeous store filled with the most luxurious fabrics and unique housewares. Upscale. Originals. Repurposed. Beautiful coffee table cookbooks to purchase throughout the store. Mugs, plates, serveware, cooking utensils, textiles, lighting, and so much more. The shop's owner has a gift for design and feel. Merchandise has a higher price tag on it. They do run sales.
The signage. Every table and bench has a sign notifying you that it's for customers only. Being further down Main Street, I would have a hard time believing that there are that many people just coming in just sit and not buy at least a coffee. (The coffee shops on Main Street where the hustle and bustle is don't even have signs like this.) So, personal preference here, but I find them to be off-putting for such a beautiful store. But it's the owner's discretion and no doubt they have been offended by non-purchasing tourists before. If I could offer a suggestion... Maybe choose a different font and make a lighter note of the expectation?? Maybe just a couple of signs framed on the wall? Instead of on every single table. Just a little overkill. But maybe I'm being sensitive about it. I never assume I can sit in a place and not buy something... So I have a hard time believing there are that many others out there that would take such an advantage worthy of that many signs. I digress. 😎
Indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely worth the visit!
Good coffee and yummy chocolate croissant. We went during spring break and it was extremely busy and they only had one person making coffee. He did a really good job of getting all of the coffees out. While we were waiting I perused the shops in the back.
This is cool trendy German coffee house! The gentleman at the front was friendly and the place is nice and clean. Parking is right out front so you can get your coffee and leave right away. My iced mocha was delicious! My partner enjoyed her chai latte. 5 stars and I will come back!
Edit: I appreciate the fact that the owner acknowledged and responded to my review, which makes it clear that customer service is very important to this business. I am looking forward to coming back the next time I am in town in order to give an honest 5 stars :)
Original rating: 3 First of all, I want to say that I was really excited to try the drinks at this fairly new shop, however, I feel a little misled by the pictures with the latte art in the previous reviews. While the people behind the bar were nice and the shop is really cute, the flat white (not a flat white by any means) and latte that we received did not reflect the price we paid for them. The espresso beans used tasted (of the little that I was able to taste) like they were fresh and good quality, but the barista left the milk to steam on its own, overheating the milk for the first drink, then using the leftover milk from the first drink to add cold milk to it and heat it again. As a result, we received drinks that were extremely hot (I am talking my husband burning his tongue when attempting to taste, then waiting for 10 mins to no longer see the steam coming off his latte) , not well textured, and tasting like breaking down milk protein that basically destroyed the taste of the espresso. I am so sorry I had to write this, but if you’re more of third wave kind of person, this may be a place to pass for now.
Rock Haus is legit. My wife and I were doing a weekend wine tour and Rock Haus happened to be the closest coffee shop. They passed the vibe check. Does not feel like you are in Texas. High quality food and coffee. Had real flowers at the table and while, expensive they have some of the coolest items I have seen walking though Fredericksburg. Definitely will be back every time we come through.
Why is this place calling itself a caffe haus? It’s more of a unique home goods store with a runt of a coffee bar. Heck there is not even space for 2-3 people to even stand in line to order. The only place to sit and drink is in the little foyer or outside along the side of the building. All the prime real estate inside where people should be sitting and snacking and talking is stacked up high with shelves full of NOT coffee. I think they want you to grab and go. Now don’t think I’m being harsh, I thought the wares on offer were cute and cool, the cookbooks and the variety of items was interesting but this is a housewares storefront first, a coffee shop well, maybe fourth? Don’t come calling thinking you’re going to get a caffe haus vibe here.
My first time trying this coffee shop and I love it! I believe his name is Ricardo(?) but the young man that served me was very friendly and we had a nice chat...the Hazelnut Latte that he made me was wonderful too....OH and the cheese danish! I am a Fredericksburg local, so love seeing and supporting a new business...even though they have been here for a year! How did I miss this one? I need to go back and check out all the merchandise...lots of pottery and things. Anyway, I highly recommend this business for locals and tourists!
