Shaw’s Coffee on the Hill has been my “go to” coffee shop for years. The barristas (Hannah & Rebekah) are excellent - friendly, quick, make great drinks, and always remember one’s favorite drink from visit to visit. The setting is lovely with large windows and plants that make it a very comfy place to sit and drink coffee and read the paper, do other work, or converse. Due to the fastidious concern of the physician-owner and staff of this shop, they have handled the pandemic with aplomb. Appropriately, masks and social distancing prevail as the coronavirus continues its relentless hold on our world. This wonderful shop is almost my “home away from home” many a morning.

One of my favorite places in St. Louis. The atmosphere is lovely. Despite the current pandemic, they continue to make their shop feel like home while also keeping the community safe with plexiglass barriers and mask-required entry. It’s very roomy with tall ceilings and a lot of natural light!

It’s in the name. This places know coffee. I have never been disappointed with a drink. The baristas offer great recommendations on coffee beans to buy, specialty drinks, and espresso, depending on your preference. My favorite is the Magellan’s Roast.

The owners and staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. The baristas add more to the homey atmosphere by always remembering your drink! It is hands down the best place to go for a coffee run, date or business meeting.

Love this place! I will go out of my way for a Shaw’s Coffee latte. The espresso is robust, deep and flavorful. The service that Rebecca and Hannah provide is top-notch. They recognize me by name (with a mask on!) and know what I order, down to the detail. The place is always clean, beautiful and they have taken every precaution to help customers have plenty of space and an exquisite cafe experience, especially despite the current challenges. Thank you, Hannah, Rebecca and Shaw’s Coffee!

Only had coffee with a friend
. It was very good too. Not crowded at 1PM but they brew your order when you order it. Wow! Smells and tests heavenly.

Shaws coffee is the best coffee shop in St. Louis; hands down, bar none.

Whether you live in town or you’re just visiting, do yourself a favor and stop by for an amazing cup of coffee and/or espresso - you will not regret it. Hannah & Rebecca are two of the most diligent & joy filled food/service professionals I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Their coffee knowledge is thorough, their barista skills are on point, and they work quickly & efficiently while always maintaining a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere.

They have an enticing selection of bakery items (from another local food-scene legend, Union Loafers) as well as Italian treats like biscotti’s & cannoli.

AND you can buy some coffee (whole bean or ground!) to take home with you - or give to someone special as a gift!

For their coffee, service, and atmosphere: 10/10

A trip to the hill isn’t complete without a visit to Shaw’s. They have a wide variety of roasts, all of which are delicious. My personal favorite is the Ethiopian roast. Every item on the menu is great and I’ve never once been disappointed. The staff is friendly and pleasant and the inside is well decorated and spacious. It’s a great place to chill out with friends or post up with your laptop in a quiet corner to get some work done. 10/10 would recommend.

Beautiful space. Looks to be an old bank, and the vault is still intact. Great service, ample menu with baked foods and lots of coffee options.

Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and a delicious Frap made for an enjoyable visit. Be sure to enjoy a drink in the bank vault.

This place has the best coffee in St. Louis. The shop is located on the Hill (The Italian Neighborhood). How cool is that? The building used to be a bank, and they kept the vault. You can sit and chill inside the vault. The folks that work there are wonderful, and the owner are pretty cool people as well. I believe Shaw's coffee to be a St. Louis treasure.

Cute location and fun 90s vibe. I always get just a black coffee when trying out a new spot, but I think I must have gotten the bottom of the pot or something; the description of the blend promised a bright fruit flavor, but it had a metallic/musty taste that I find comes from sitting on the warmer for too long.
