The first time I visited this coffee shop, everything was fantastic. The second time, service took longer than expected, which was no biggie. BUT, the barista (who was preoccupied with talking to his buddy from a neighboring restaurant) did not add the milk to my cappuccino! So, I left with a double shot with foam on top. I didn't have time to go back in to have it corrected. Very disappointed.

Not just the best in St. Louis but one of the best in the country. Every time we visit my mother who still lives on The Hill, we stock up on whole bean coffees.
We currently live in Indianapolis and have the coffee shipped when we can't get back for a visit frequently. So far, every order has shipped the same day I order. With FedEx Ground, the 2-3 day deliver is actually next day or 2-day.
I can't say enough good things about the quality of the coffees or the service.

Good coffee (I had the iced coffee last time) and fruity smoothies, which are expensive but delicious and full of real fruit. The location is convenient for combining with a visit to the Botanical Garden.

I've gone twice now and both times I've been disappointed with the service and quality.
Both trips I was treated as if I was getting in their way, and their conversations where more important then me, the costumer (second time the barista was even skyping on her phone!).
Both cups of coffee were intolerable. Tasted as if the paper filters in their batch brew hadn't been rinsed. I made the mistake of using the half-and-half on my first trip, which had gone bad.
Ambiance is a little strage. I like the concept of preserving the old building and paying homage to its original use as a bank, but they have too many potted plants, making a maze like journey from the door to counter; feels like a trip to the safari. the only remarkable qualities of this place was: they have a sitting room in an old vault, and play the classical station RAFStl 107.3 FM
Would not go again, nor recommend it. Saint Louis has a host of high quality coffee shops to go to, and this is not one.

Not a fan of their coffee, at all! I also asked the woman working the counter if they had oat milk. She went on this tyrant about how they would order it, then no one used it so it went bad, and they aren’t going to keep up with the fads. Totally understand that, but didn’t need the whole spiel and it gave me a negative vibe.

Great ambiance and welcoming staff. Iced coffee just ok, but enjoyed our time there!

Shaw's offers micro-roasted coffee from all over the world as well as a variety of pastries, coffee cakes, bagels, and cookies. It's an easy-going place to sit and enjoy a light breakfast and they now offer sandwiches and soup...or follow up your lunch at one of the many nearby Italian sandwich shops like Amighetti's with a real espresso or latte. Perfect!

Tip: if you buy a pound of any of their coffee beans (~$13-$16/lb), they will give you a free cup of brewed coffee.

I've been here numerous times and have always received outstanding service and tasty drinks. Great atmosphere, too. The best coffee place on the hill for my money...

I really loved their croissants, im sorry to say they have discontinued selling croissants. The coffee is still amazing

They do things traditional Italian style coffee. It's very green, lots of plant life. Really chill vibes and the interior is cool too.
