First let me commend the house keeping. I’ve stayed at many places and this was very good. Same for the valet. They only have valet which is a little of annoying but the valets do a good job getting your car quickly. Also as a diamond member I thank the front deck for the room upgrade. Mahalo.
The resort itself is massive and sprawling. Our son loved the beach and the slides. There was some renovations being done which were unobtrusive. The spa is part of that update so you can only get a massage - no sauna/steam room, showers etc. everything was very clean and the all the staff were friendly. The rooms themselves are starting to show their age but when we are in Hawaii all we are doing in our room is sleeping.
Everything is obscenely expensive but such is Hawaii.

We absolutely love this place!! Started coming 6 years ago and enjoy it more every time. Great amenities, fantastic pools, family friendly (my son loves all the slides) views and gardens are amazing, and fantastic food options. I love the traditional Hawaiian culture they keep alive as well.

I haven’t stayed at the resort yet but I have to give a five star review about the interaction I had with DAWN L. CARRIZOSA ROSALES. I’ve been trying to book the resort for over a year now. It has been somewhat difficult with the construction and using Hilton points. The best way to do it is by booking the standard room. The problem is the wings under construction until next year. I finally found a week to book four standard rooms for 10 nights. This is a huge family vacation I’ve been saving up for. Due to the excitement I wanted to find out some more information about the construction, timing we are coming, excursions, property, photography session, rental car etc. I had several questions and was probably on the phone with Dawn for over 30 minutes. She answered all my questions and was super amazing and helpful. I can’t wait to come this has been a 2 year process!

Resort itself is awesome. Pools, staff and grounds are amazing. The Villa we stayed in (87-3) was a different story. It truly did not stand up to the reputation of the Waldorf Astoria. Appliances, furniture, cushions were heavily worn, stained or totally broke. One sink in the master bathroom was broken, but sealed up with some silicone caulk, microwave only had one setting, high, toaster only toasted on one side, dishwasher rack is broke, clothes washer was so loud we had to leave the unit while in operation. Staff was kind enough to provide us another room key for the unit next door to do our laundry for the next two weeks. Zone on the AC units were terrible. One thermostat operated all three bedrooms. You would roast in one bedroom (Master) and freeze in the other two. Maintenance is fully aware and acknowledged its an ongoing problem with the AC. Pride of ownership definitely lacked in this particular unit.

Overall great experience, but I decided to give a 4 star since:
- The instructions of places of interests can be more obvious. It is kind of hard to find the way.
- The waiter by the pool gave us the menu, and said he would be back in a few minutes, and as a result we wait for an hour and didn’t see him back. He has been in the area multiple times, I tried call him directly multiple times, he nodded, but then didn’t come to us. I would expect a much better experience.
What is great:
- I really enjoy the Lu’au experience. It is great drink, food, and very nice people and beautiful beach. We really enjoyed it.
- The hotel is nice, clean, well equipped. The pool is great, and the garden is beautiful! And the view is amazing from the room.

The property is beautiful and has a lot of options. Unfortunately if you need help from the staff for anything, it is less than satisfactory. I feel for the price of this property, you can get far better service at other resorts. Wish it would have been a better experience.

Super expensive with many hidden fees. Was charged $54 for them to hold a bag, daily room cleaning gratuity, lots of taxes, etc. I found an error on the bill and can't reach anyone to address it. Plus it was a super confusing bill with multiple tax lines for each charge (room charge, parking, valet, etc.).
Now the good part, the resort was pretty nice, but not worth the high cost. There was construction going on constantly and it's an old hotel (so it does need it, but not nice when you're paying so much to stay there). I won't go back. The Wailea Marriott next door is better and a newer property.

My wife and I stayed here on our first visit to Maui several years ago. This may be one of the nicest resorts we have ever stayed at. The food was awesome. The luau here is one of my favorite memories of Maui. The service is world class. The rooms are luxurious. Everything you need is here.

Our most memorable vacation. Took video of whales from our room. Unbelievable up close whale experience with Maui Pacific Tours outrigger canoe on premise. Service is great from rooms, front desk to valet. . Kathy at concierge was very helpful with great advice. Saving up for our next stay

Beautiful grounds and beach. Super fun multi-level pools with slides and lazy river features. Hotel was under construction/ renovation when we were there so there was some additional noise but it was not terribly disruptive. All staff was very friendly and accommodating.
