The Point kitchen + cocktails + sunset

So… I really REALLY want to like this place, but we’ve had consecutively poor experiences here. Apologies in advance for such a long review.

This was my 4th time going and it’s the 4th time in a row that I left very dissatisfied. I saw the sign that they’re short staffed (I get it) but there were 4 tables on the third floor and the second floor was empty.

The service was very slow and inexperienced— which is not the reason for the 2 stars. We can tell when somebody is new to the industry and we try to kindly guide them. The 2 stars comes with when the other server and bartender did nothing to make things better. I would say management too, but I didn’t see any.

We had to pre bus our own table, we had to grab the server to place orders, we had to go and grab the drink sitting at the bar (with 3 staff standing around it talking).

My drink was $10 and overflowing with ice. I sent it back to have some ice poured out and freshened up, but the bartender just topped it off, used my straw to mix it up, and sent it back. Seeing this, I just grabbed a new straw (because the guy just gripped the mouth end of my straw), and ordered a beer for my next drink. The drink was obviously watered down and tasteless.

Entrees weren’t ordered until after appetizers came out, and that was because we told her to take our order. When the food came out, both my sides were cold. Server didn’t come to check on us, I had to find her and get it fixed (after a good 15 minutes). Again, wouldn’t complain about this understanding the experience level, but it’s worth noting.

After we asked for boxes and said we didn’t want dessert or anything, we were sitting around for another 20 minutes before the server told us it was last call… instead of bringing us checks. Checks with gratuity included with no disclaimer from the server.

All in all, we were there for about 2 hours (never had more than 4 other parties of 4 or less). I keep trying this place every 6 months or so with hopes of it being better, because the food is good (when hot) and you can’t beat the view. I can say with confidence that I won’t be going back.

Good view and even better food!

LOVE this place. We arrived by boat and ate at the bar on the 3rd level. We had the burger, it was really good. Drinks were tasty and price was right. The view was awesome and the lower tiki restaurant allows dogs. This place will be a regular stop for us. Loved the decor & vibe, staff was friendly & again the view was sweet. Check this place out for sure!

The food was great, the staff were very polite. The overall relaxed feel and amazing views were definitely a plus. I highly recommend that you visit this place.

Unfortunately, a bad experience. My friend and I came for dinner on a Wednesday night, and were seated at a corner table. Was passed by numerous waiters, not one came by to wait on our table. After waiting 10 minutes, I realized this was not right. I asked one of the staff for a waiter, and out came a waitress (will not specify her name here) and she came with a horrible attitude. My friend and I ordered drinks, and ordered food at the same time to not wait. Drinks came 15 minutes later, food came 1.5 hours later. Waitress smiled at everyone else’s tables, yet when she came to ours, she was completely different! A sour face, and lack of great service. I don’t know what we did to deserve such an experience, we just wanted to enjoy the food and sunset like everyone else. I felt like this was a theme park experience, where food and service aren’t the best so you’re paying just for the name. I’m sorry, but not coming back. It was unfortunately a bad aftertaste.

1st time here at this restaurant. The hostess with her 9 inch nails is not friendly at all. She said just to let you know, that we are short staff & we have a limited menu. Then she said, what are you going to do? I replied, we will stay. She then said, the umbrellas have to stay down do to the wind. I said that is fine. She brought us to our table & said to me: if you put the umbrella up, I will come right over & put it down!!!
However, our waiter Derek is fabulous & nice & even brought our dog a bowl of water.

Had lunch there and will not go back. The hamburger was greasy and the fries were average at best. The clam chowder was too thick, the spoon stood straight up. The taste was mediocre. The fish dip was served with carrot slices, cucumber slices, and a big pile of jalapeño peppers and stale saltine packaged crackers. Who dips jalapeños into fish dip? The view was beautiful and breezy. I would recommend drinks only, skip the food.

The Point serves a limited menu of tasty seafood. The atmosphere is a bit sparse. There is ample parking. Go to see a magnificent sunset.

We had a party of 18 and our waitress Christina was on top of it. The food and drinks were great. We had brought a birthday cake with us and she even found some candles for it and brought it out. Then preceded to cut it up and plate it for everyone. Exceptional service.

It was really busy at 4pm. A bit of a surprise. We were seated right away though. I had the Chilean Sea Bass. I subbed the risotto for the jasmine rice and quinoa. The server was new, but he did a great job, super friendly. The food was amazing. I'm always hesitant at paying high prices at restaurants, since I've been disappointed so many times. One bite of the bass on the bed of rice with the olive on top and I threw all reservations out the window. Totally worth it! I highly recommend The Point a be I will be returning.
