The Point kitchen + cocktails + sunset

Horrible experience from start to finish took almost an hour to get the food restaurant was 25% full so I don’t want to hear we don’t have help because there was employees sitting around the bar. Waitress was rude!! Will never go back.!!!
Food was very mediocre. Nothing special.

What a beautiful location and atmosphere for dinner, drinks, etc! Came in from Michigan to visit friends in Sarasota and had never been! It's lovely and food was very good! I'll be back for sure!

Food and atmosphere disappointing. We had a reservation and the hostess looked at us like we were nuts. We were put in a large empty, bright room near the bar and kitchen. Similar to a school cafeteria. Food was just ok, nothing popped.

Amazing Cobb Salad which came with shrimp too. Good service and reasonably priced! A tip: for some reason you get a 5oz glass of wine for $5 and a 9oz glass for $10!

Edit!! So after this review, Mr Angelo the general manager reached out to me. They offered to comp my meal and rectify our bad experience. I took him up on his offer and they didn't disappoint. I came back to the restaurant a week earlier(without them knowing as a litmus test)to see if things were better than before, without letting the general Manger know. They delivered and showed why the Point is a special place. If any of you have had a bad experience here I urge you, to give them another shot. Life is about redemption and forgiveness. Try it again you won't regret it

It breaks my heart to write this, but here we go. Tonight was the worst experience I have ever had visiting restaurants. The Point is normally on POINT, always. So we arrived Saturday night Aug 6th 2022 at 5:35pm. Made an online reservation through Google maps. We were seated on the second floor outside overlooking the lawn and docks. It took over 1 hour to get drinks/water. My step mother, who I was treating to nice dinner. Had to go UP TO the bar Inside and order our drinks(mind you after being seated for 1 hour, 0 service). The bartender came outside about 15 minutes later apologized for the wait and took our order(dude was swamped at the bar). Half hour later food arrived. That was the last we saw of any staff willing to treat us as guest. I had to physically get up at 7:50 walk back to the bar and get my bill and to-go boxes. $77 bill.

This place was one of our special places in florida. We frequent this place quite often. I live here in sarasota county(nokomis). My father and stepmother own a house down the street from the restaurant 5 minutes away on the inner coastal.(half-backs) When they are not in illinois we come here on the regular with the boat or by car. We bring our guest/family who are visiting here to eat after a nice boat ride. This place is special to us, been coming since the grand opening. Just super frustrated with the service. It killed me to not leave a tip for the server(or lack there of) but you tied my hands. I understand being short staffed, having management shakeups, scheduling. I get it, but your customers should not suffer and pay those consequences.

Your only saving grace is that roasted cauliflower dish, used to be a cauliflower steak(new updated menu). I'm no "Karen" and won't demand a manager and cause a scene and ruin others experience. But I will speak with my wallet, and a review. I'm sure you will not miss our visits but, I'm sure other places will enjoy these new customers you created. This isn't me saying we will never be back. What it is saying is we will try to find a new spot and maybe drop by for your "redemption" when that is, who knows! You have always over delivered the 2 years and 50+ times we have been there always, not a single complaint. But tonight was just ridiculous. I felt ignored and unappreciated and that isn't right.

Unbelievable good. We were the first customers of the day right when the doors opened. Place was packed by the time we left.

Beautiful view with yummy food. The servers were pleasant and had live music to listen to!

Stumbled upon this place looking for supper with a view of the water while visiting the sarasota area. Absolutely outstanding. Had a wonderful steak. Cocktails were great. View was amazing. Outstanding place.

What a view!! The food was great, the docks are easy to access, and the service was fantastic!! We'll be back!

Had dinner with. 2 other couples last evening. The Point has a really great view of the bay. The dining room was clean and neat although the noise level is a little high. We were able to converse with the other couples thanks to having a round table. The wait staff were neat and pleasant.
The drinks were not good, very very sweet. 4 out of 6 of us had a mixed drink and we were all disappointed due to the sweetness. I had to return a bourbon old fashion as it was not drinkable. In all fairness the bar tender was new and inexperienced and should have been trained better. I walked him through a bourbon on the rocks.
It is a nice menu and the food was good but not as good as the price would indicate. I had the shrimp and grits and was somewhat disappointed. Very poor presentation but tasty.
The desert saved the evening. My wife and I shared the sundae and I give it a home run.
All in all a good experience but not quite what we were hoping for, thus the 3 star review.
