I find most coffee places to be pretty much the same. The coffee is okay but nothing special and they stress the dark roast which tends to muddy most flavors into a burnt something or another. With the popularity of Starbucks and their bitter brew, I get it but it's boring. I was very pleasantly surprised with States coffee (made me think Equator). I had genuinely good coffee for a decent price and the loaf of bread and banana bread that I got were both really pretty good. I'm really happy to have found this place and will definitely be going back. Interior is trendy industrial and I imagine outside Covid times it is a nice place to sit. Staff was very friendly, kudos to the team over there and I hope the pandemic doesn't impact them too terribly.

Had their *polular* vanilla latté and decaf mocha today. Both drinks were quite horrible to say the least. Latte tasted of burnt coffee beans and I asked for it to be made with almond milk - it tasted like it was made with whole milk. Next, the mocha - that tasted straight like mud. Lastly, I asked for both drinks to be made with latté art. I like my drinks not only tasting great, but also looking pretty / esthetically pleasing. The attempt was made by the barista(s), however both drinks were covered with lids. I mean what the hell is the point to do art if you will immediately cover both cups filled to the very top it with lids? Of course the art will be smeared and smudged. Anyway, long story short - do not recommend this place unless you want underwhelming esthetics and subpar taste for a premium price tag.

Place is really unique and they go a long way to make sure the experience is the same.

My favorite local coffee place. Staff always great. Coffee always just right. Oat milk latte is my go to, my daughter likes the avocado toast.

The honey latte is the best ever! And if you need less sweet like me, just ask for half as much and it's perfect.

The best matcha I’ve had on the west coast. The best bread I’ve had in the US. They sell out of bread every weekend! Love this place and so happy they are opening more locations. Cheers to environmental consciousness with biodegradable single use cups! Thank you States!

I love States Coffee. It's a sizable coffee shop with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Nice and clean, yet rustic and unique. They have good food and drinks as well. I recommend their cold brew coffee with an ice cream float. Sounds unusual but tastes really good!

Wonderful service with excellent espresso and coffee drinks. On par with the best you'd find in The City, or beyond. Love it!

Now post COVID they're still not using ceramic, but the quality is still the same. Also, you can purchase bread from their sister company some days of the week and the bread is some of the best you can find in the Bay area, particularly the East Bay.

Overall this is quite a nice coffee house. The decor is simple and pleasant and skylights in the roof make for a really natural well-lit environment. The staff are quite friendly and make you feel at home. I've given it four stars only because the seating setup is a little odd. You have to separate rooms that are visible to each other but sealed off with wrought iron railing on the inside. So to go from one seating area of the same coffee house to the other you must go back out into the street and enter through a separate door. Very odd. But again overall quite a nice coffee experience.

Loved it! Super cool environment, great coffee expertly made. Going again very soon. I love the cool van out back, love the graphic arts identity of the place, just love the vibe of being there. I wish Pleasant Hill had more local cool places like this (although there are some good ones in P-Hill too!)
