They use very quality ingredients and you can taste it. Very good with the pour too! Also the girl working there was very nice and helpful to guide me on choosing one of their special drinks, great experience.
Perfect spot to drop in and grab a coffee to go. Quick and friendly service as you'd expect, all staff I've encountered have happily offered up some light chit-chat while you wait.
No real inside seating but they have a cute patio on the side of the building and some street-side seating as well. The weather wasn't really fit for outside seating most of the times I visited.
Coffee has always been real good, quality beans and well prepared milk options.
Coffee was amazing, great prices, & easy parking. The gentleman working has positive and contagious energy..he went above and beyond for my experience. This is now the GO-TO coffee if your in downtown Oakland.
Wonderful new coffee shop! We enjoyed our almond milk lattee & drip coffee. Amazing pastries here. Lots of gluten free options on top of a pretty amazing pastry rotation. House-made sourdough is some of the best in the Bay Area! Nice area for outdoor enjoyment as well.
There coffee is great quality. The oat milk isn't may favorite brand, but it pairs well with the acidity of the Ethiopian roast. Yum. ...And the people were cool!
As my other States reviews might indicate, I'm a fan of their coffee. I've been to the Martinez Roastery, the new San Pablo Roastery, and I've frequented both Oakland cafe locations on 40th and MLK. The 40th location has better seating options -- on the curb and in a little enclosed corner tucked behind the cafe. It seats about 6 tables with plenty of space and open air. The carry out window makes it easy to get your favorite coffee and pastry.
The baristas were very friendly and fun. They had such a welcoming presence and the coffee was great. The new owners of the space really brought in new life! The new design is stylish and sleek.
Just got a fougasse, capp, and cheddar scallion scone. Staff was super friendly and attentive, capp was freaking way too hot!, fougasse was a dream. The scone blegh, wish they would stop getting Starter pastries, but I figure they keep the pastries because this store used to be Subrosa and people that frequented it expect those pastries. They have this amazing bread that is made locally, why not toast it and serve it? I think they would create converts. First time in and would go again.

Good coffee! The alley next to it leads to a back patio with plenty of seating, check it out if you're eating there.
