Great coffee and amazing atmosphere. I went in after reading some reviews and I was pleasantly surprised. The people at the front helping me were kind and friendly. A really welcoming location. While there was a line it moved very quickly.
Outside there were seats and inside you are able to sit in two rooms. There is plenty of space for you to choose from.
I ordered the latte and I enjoyed it. Also had a maple donut which I thought was very tasty.
This is definitely a place that I will come back to. I can definitely see myself staying here for a while just sipping on coffee and reading a good book or watching a good show or just chilling with some friends!

Very large space with plenty of room to spread out. There's also outdoor seating in case you bring your dog. Kind of pricey for the area. More expensive than getting Blue Bottle at $5 for a latte. The donut was unremarkable but was only $2. The cold brew was decent but nothing I'd go out of my way to stock at home. Plenty of parking but again, you're in Martinez. Not to much density to worry about. Can't imagine needing to park more than one block away.

Love States Coffee.
I’ve recently switched my regular order there. I used to get the iced dark mocha (oat milk), but it’s slightly less milky than I’d like. Now I get the iced vanilla latte (oat milk) and it’s what I’m looking for. I miss sitting and working inside, but the outdoor seating is nice, assuming there’s any when you’re there.

Going to stares feels like coming home. Excellence is in the DNA of each drink, smile and moment. A neighborhood watering hole of good coffee, delicious bread and community

So amazing. Go for the maple donut and a "stamp" (their version of a cortado). Awesome decor, great coffee and espresso, the most friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommended!

Really excellent coffee and tea lattes, however the bread is not very good.
Not sure if it was old or just hard but gosh it was far from even the top 70% of baguettes I’ve ever had.
This place also has truly the most random layout. There is a metal bar separating two sides of the business, so you have to walk outside to sit on the other side. Truly bizarre

This is an interesting and amazing place.
Great space sit and catch up with friends or read. The pastries are good, I understand they get it from Starter Bakery, box delivered.
The drip coffee here makes me wonder why I ever enjoy coffee. It is really bad, no body or aroma, remind me of washing dishes day in my younger days.
And if you enjoy the slowness in service, you will enjoy the wait. Reminds me of days reading Kundera’s “slowness”
Not sure what all they hyped is about with all the reviews.
Short of good boulangerie in Martinez, it is a decent place for limited pastries.
Just my experience and thoughts.

Well now I know why there is always a line out the door. The coffee is 5 stars all the way. The food is so good. Try the banana bread...and the avacado toast. I love the atmosphere and the space to just hang out and relax. Amazing place with great staff.
You must try!

great if:
- you like nutty coffee with a hint of acidity
- looking for a study/work space
- looking for an aesthetic cafe with good vibes
This is honestly the cafe I've been looking for in Berkeley for so long -- great coffee, great pastries, great service, great vibes. It is a pretty spacious cafe with lots of tables. I've had an iced americano and an iced latte, both which I loved: bold but not too strong with a subtle hint of acidity. With many orders ahead it may take a bit to get your drink, but it's definitely worth the wait. All baristas I've encountered have been so friendly and sensible. Pastries aren't exceptionally outstanding but are still great - there are various options from scones to almond croissant and vegan donuts. During peak times, it's hard to find seating and wifi slows down a little, but after the rush, you'll probably find yourself staying for a while to enjoy the coffee, pastries, and vibes.
