Excellent food. The staff were very friendly. Due to Covid 19 and outside dining only the wait was long but the staff suggested to go and the plethora of tables surrounding the shopping center. All of the food was fresh and full of flavor. I highly recommend the cheese fried grits. Homemade cheese biscuit was good. My wife got the triple D's (named after Guy Fierris show I'm sure) and enjoyed it all.

Great service, great menu options, and best of all - great food! My kids are chocolate chip pancake aficionados, and they loved them... and the serving size was too much for even them, which is saying something. I chose the breakfast roll (burrito) with black beans, mushroom & avocado. Their sauces on top were just right, and the potatoes were perfectly seasoned as well. We would definitely go back!

[Update: Apr 2021] Our memories served us right. When in Carmel Valley, you must go to From Scratch. Now that our kids were older, we could truly appreciate the great breakfast, chocolate pancakes, French toast, and everything else From Scratch has to offer. The place is as popular as ever, even on a weekday for brunch. So make sure you go early, or be prepared to stand in line. But it is absolutely worth it. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and truly well balanced brunch spot.

Amazing breakfast joint loved by locals. A bit pricey but worth every penny. A bit crowded but cozy atmosphere.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The manager and staff are really friendly and attentive. The food is amazing! I recommend the HUGE french toast or the "Rolled-Up" breakfast burrito. Initially I thought they were really milking the Chef Guy Fieri visit (from the Food Network) with pictures of him throughout the restaurant but after eating there I could see why. The food is genuinely "made from scratch." Really good breakfast.

I ordered the huevos rancheros, it was really good, they layered all the ingredients on top of nice crispy chips, a nice change from the usual which is two corn tortillas. The ambience was nice it was outside following covid rules, the waiter was very accommodating for our large group especially since it started raining he worked really hard to give us shelter and an umbrella. 👍🏼😊

My wife loved the biscuits and gravy so much. Definitely a touristy type spot but they do it right. Food is made from scratch and wait staff was friendly. Would definitely order the pancakes again.

I would rate this restaurant 3.5 stars. The ingredients are obviously fresh (farm to table) being in Carmel by the Sea. The best dish we ordered was the cinnamon roll pancake- OMG! It does not need butter or syrup; perfect just the way it is. I ate the pancake before eating my corned beef hash. My hash had cubes of beef, not what I am used to when ordering hash, but still good (just too much meat for me). My sister liked her biscuits and gravy (the triple D sampler). It's April and we sat outside- it was cold, therefore my food got cold fast. I recommend eating inside. The service is fantastic!

Ordered the Guy Fiere special with chili and quickly realized it was a mistake. The gravy is really heavy in my opinion. Definitely not the type of food I'd normally eat. Other than that, I liked the rest of the food. Everything was cooked well. The chili tastes good.

The service here was pretty good. Our waitress was nice and helpful.

The reviews brought us there for a late Memorial Day breakfast and the 40 minute wait gave us an opportunity to enjoy the shopping center garden as a family.
Everyone said their meal was one of the best of our vacation and everything was tasty. Food tasted as it was made from mom's kitchen with pride. Being from the South biscuits and gravy is a staple so I had to give theirs a go. Extreme Biscuits and Gravy with eggs and fruit, Huevos Rancheros, Skillet with eggs/bacon pieces/red potatoes, and kids breakfast sampler while throwing in a Bloody Mary and Mimosa for the adults. Restaurant staff were kind and attentive which lead to a an enjoyable dining experience.

Delicious hot chocolate. I ordered a skillet. It was decent but different than what I had ordered.
