I lovee going to The Coffee Shelf! Their coffees, baked goods and specifically frozen coffee shelf drink is phenomenal! Hands down I prefer coffee from here over Starbucks and Dunkin. It's the best little hole in the wall and what they use to make the drinks is not as acidic tasting as the mainstream coffee establishments and other coffee shops I have been. It's also super cute inside, you can grab a coffee and sit to read any books they have on the shelf or buy them! GREAT place! Hope to keep them around for a long time!

This place is awesome! Some of the best coffee around. The staff is great about making recommendations and the pastries are great for a grab and go breakfast. And let's not forget the awesome collection of books!!!

This place is everything a coffee shop should be! It is clean and the prices are fair. I especially love the atmosphere! And the owner has always been very kind and welcoming when I walked in to order anything :-) I also like the music that’s typically playing when I make my visit. I’ve been to many coffee shops especially during my travels in Europe but this is truly a stand out establishment and one of my favorite places to go in Chapin.

We were driving through town to go to my sisters graduation in Savannah, GA. We found this on our route and saw it had great reviews. We were not disappointed. They have really good frappes and even make a delicious peanut butter mocha frappe. You do not see that all the time. They also have reading material, WiFi and plenty of comfortable lounging space to hang out, work, read, recharge your electronics, study, or visit with friends.

In addition I somehow left a very sentimental sweater there by accident. Luckily when I called they had it. I had no way of getting back to the location and asked the owner if there was any way he could have it mailed to me. Within 10 minutes he was at a ups mailing it to me. This level of hospitality is exceptional. He did not have to do this. I appreciated this so much. Please take the time to visit this location and get to know the kind staff and taste the delicious coffee and pastries!

Very nice, relaxing place. Good assortment of pastries. Good coffee. Last 2 times I've been in, there's been some loud guy preaching to what looked a captive one man audience. This did not create a very relaxing Atmosphere. I noticed most people seemed to clear out and the staff looked sheepish.

First time going in today, I tried the Sherlocked. It was so awesome. This place is adorable and love that the drinks are named after literary characters. The staff was attentive, offered helpful advice for drink choice and were very friendly. Definitely check them out. You will be happy you did.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Since I moved back to this area I knew I wouldn’t be able to go to my little Kroger Starbucks in Irmo everyday, so I got on Google and it led me to The Coffee Shelf. I walked in and the environment reminded of a small Barnes & Noble (I was a regular there too, I’ve had to move a lot). I love reading and anywhere that has books :). The environment is so warm and welcoming. It didn’t take me long to become a regular here. Coming here is like a little getaway for me. Jerry is the best and knows his stuff. His staff is wonderful, courteous, and well trained (even under pressure). They make the best extra sweet vanilla lattes for me all the time. The CINNAMON BUNS WITH THAT ICING AND THE DANISHES are the best. I can’t tip all the time because I’m a freelancer at the moment, but they don’t judge lol. It’s worth a try so check it out for reeeeal.

This place is one of the last few of a dying breed of small business coffee shops that used to be all over the Columbia area and were wiped out by large corp franchises like Starbucks and Dunkin

This place is delicious in every manner possible. The coffee is very delicious and fresh. The menu is book themed, which I find to be incredibly creative and distinctive. They have new books, used books, children’s books. They have alllll the books. The deserts and little bits of “yum” are fresh made by the owner’s wife. Unfortunately, I only find my way to this establishment when I’m on duty, otherwise I’d visit frequently. It’s a great little coffee niche in Chapin. You simply must indulge!

Love the atmosphere, the coffee, and the support as a local author
