The owner was very friendly & location was cute, but the prices she is charging for coffee and pastries is beyond comprehension. I realize this is a touristy destination, I understand things are pricier, but the sizes you are served and the price has me completely mind blown! It truly was the biggest rip off in Newport. The smallest “medium” and “large” coffee we’ve ever had and 1 croissant was $26.00 I am still dumbfounded a day later how that happened! I wanted to love this place but I just can’t for the life of me justify anything costing that much.

DO NOT GO HERE I THOUGHT THEY CLOSED DOWN... wish they stayed closed the way she steals peoples hard earned money. $8 for the tiniest coffee is such a rip off.

Very quant place with such a kind owner. The danish and scones were delicious, as were our iced lattes. It's the perfect location, as you are RIGHT on the water. I imagine the cost to run the location is EXPENSIVE and a tourist magnet, but beautiful nonetheless. We paid almost $70 for two large iced coffees (think 16oz), two scones, one danish, and one regular sized bottle of water. Everything was delicious, but more expensive than we expected. Gotta make the rent somehow! If you're on vacation and money is no object, stop for a coffee, maybe a cookie or other baked good, and the view/location/boat watching.

I'm blaming myself for not reading these reviews. Ridiculously overpriced! Bagel was $7.95... the cream cheese packet was an additional $1.25. Slice of quice was $14. My total for 4 coffees and simple breakfast was over $100. I felt completely ripped off. The location is great and the lady was working really hard, but the prices are just wrong and must be changed. This purchase haunted me for the rest of our trip and unfortunatley gave me a negative impression for Newport.

On a day visit we found Bannisters Wharf Marina and came across Coffee Grinder, sitting in the sun with views to the marina and looking forward to our cappuccino, unfortunately the cappuccino was just OK, disappointed after a long wait, expensive for the size, couldn't recommend.

Definitely the most over paid coffee I've ever paid for. $7 for a "large" .. the large size was 6oz. And the small was 5oz... Coffee did taste like regular coffee.

Cozy hip atmosphere with homemade baked goods, beautiful view of the water, light espresso. Super nice shop owner.

Prices are ridiculous. Go to the Cookie Jar a few stores away for better food at less than half the price.
$12.95 for a blueberry strudel
$9.95 muffin
$5.95 10 oz. orange juice (a 617% markup!)
Altogether you will pay over $40 for a very underwhelming breakfast for two people.
I have never felt more compelled to warn people to avoid a place. It is not worth it and the owner will smile gleefully as she relieves you of your hard-earned money.

Customer service was great, but prices were outrageous! A “small” iced latte was and a croissant were nearly 15 dollars, and the prices weren’t written anywhere or given to me until I had to pay. The small coffee was the size of a SAMPLE, I finished it in TWO sips. The croissant was small but it tasted fine. I understand it must be expensive to keep a small business in Newport but I have never had to pay that much for coffee and a croissant in my life.

Approximately $13.00+ for 2 small coffees. We're talking 8 ounces each!
We paid for the coffees and whilst walking away we were thinking we just got taken advantage of. No extra shots of anything. Nothing special either as far as the taste. Don't even go there, we totally regretted it. Our Marriott Hotel coffee tasted better.
Prices on the board are not what you are going to pay. As others have noted, the owner will talk your ear off to distract you, then just charge whatever she wants. Total scam tactic. She should have her business license revoked for unethical business practices. She watches you too if you're looking at the baked goods like you're going to take them...please...
Oh, and there's a HUGE tip jar in front as well, avoid this place like the plague...
