Review of Five and Ten
Five and Ten: Upscale Southern Cuisine with French Influences
If you're looking for an upscale dining experience that offers creative and contemporary Southern cooking, Five and Ten is the perfect spot for you. Located in the Five Points neighborhood in Athens, Georgia, this James Beard Award-winning restaurant is built out of a century-old house designed by famed Athens architect Fred Orr. The restaurant is known for its gourmet farm-to-table menu, extensive fine wine list, and authentic service. The cuisine is elevated Southern with French influences, making for a unique and delicious dining experience.
The menu changes regularly, offering a variety of unique and tasty dishes. Some of the highlights include the carpaccio, chilled pea soup, cornbread, and rose petal cake. The pork belly and fried catfish are also excellent choices. If you're a fan of risotto, be sure to try theirs, as it's one of the best in town. The restaurant also offers Sunday brunch and weekly burger nights.
The decor and ambiance are welcoming and relaxing, with an antique house vibe. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the service is top-notch. The restaurant can readily accommodate dietary restrictions, making it a great choice for those with food allergies or special diets.
While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food and service justifies the cost. The restaurant charges an additional service fee to help offset the hourly wage paid to their servers, which may be off-putting to some customers. However, the fee is explained upfront, and the restaurant is transparent about its pricing policies.
If you're looking for a fantastic dining experience in Athens, Five and Ten is a must-visit. The restaurant is sometimes overlooked but is truly one of the best in town. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a delicious meal, Five and Ten is sure to impress.

Sometimes overlooked but truly one of the best restaurants in Athens. Always enjoy just sitting at the bar and taking recommendations from the staff.

I used to worked in the Restaurant biz for over 15 years. My experience last Saturday was the best service and food and atmosphere I have ever experienced in my adult life! The Wine list was so well organized and balanced. The glass wear excellent. The wait staff on point. The food sent me to a happy place 😊

Have been here twice now and have had a great experience each time. We learned of Five and Ten from its reputation as the nicest place to eat in Athens, and it's lived up to that in our experiences thus far. The Pimento Cheese is a must-have appetizer. Great craft cocktails, and friendly service.

Great bartender, makes really good cocktails! The food was just ok, nothing amazing. We had a lobster dish that had no lobster and the braised lamb congee that was spicy and just ok. The winners were the cheese plate and the cocktails via George!

Great service from Teresa as we celebrated our anniversary! The menu had more gluten free options than most which delighted us. The cornbread with its honey butter and the peach butter from my pork chop is delightful. Chef's kiss!

Dinner was awesome, the Chef did an amazing job. Our waitress was pleasant and they box the food up to go so well. Not that would know because I am getting into my leftovers 2 hours later...

Had a wonderful experience all around! Wyatt the host was just as friendly and sweet as he could be!! A great introduction to the restaurant. Bob was our server, and he was very pleasant and helpful. The food was delicious—the portions could be a tad larger but it’s expected with fine dining. I filled up on my oyster mushroom risotto and loved every bite!! My boyfriend was left a bit hungry after the grilled mahi mahi, but enjoyed it a lot.

Absolutely wonderful experience. My husband and I went on recommendations from friends. We did not look at the menu beforehand and we were pleasantly surprised. Our drinks and meal were fantastic. Etienne, our waiter, was extremely knowledgeable and went through the entire menu with us as neither of us were well versed in French cuisine. Hands down my new favorite restaurant in Athens. It's a shame I hadn't tried this place sooner.
