Review of Five and Ten
Five and Ten: Upscale Southern Cuisine with French Influences
If you're looking for an upscale dining experience that offers creative and contemporary Southern cooking, Five and Ten is the perfect spot for you. Located in the Five Points neighborhood in Athens, Georgia, this James Beard Award-winning restaurant is built out of a century-old house designed by famed Athens architect Fred Orr. The restaurant is known for its gourmet farm-to-table menu, extensive fine wine list, and authentic service. The cuisine is elevated Southern with French influences, making for a unique and delicious dining experience.
The menu changes regularly, offering a variety of unique and tasty dishes. Some of the highlights include the carpaccio, chilled pea soup, cornbread, and rose petal cake. The pork belly and fried catfish are also excellent choices. If you're a fan of risotto, be sure to try theirs, as it's one of the best in town. The restaurant also offers Sunday brunch and weekly burger nights.
The decor and ambiance are welcoming and relaxing, with an antique house vibe. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the service is top-notch. The restaurant can readily accommodate dietary restrictions, making it a great choice for those with food allergies or special diets.
While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food and service justifies the cost. The restaurant charges an additional service fee to help offset the hourly wage paid to their servers, which may be off-putting to some customers. However, the fee is explained upfront, and the restaurant is transparent about its pricing policies.
If you're looking for a fantastic dining experience in Athens, Five and Ten is a must-visit. The restaurant is sometimes overlooked but is truly one of the best in town. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a delicious meal, Five and Ten is sure to impress.

The food was as tasty as ever. 4 small plates, and I can't even walk. The duck dumplings are a must, and if you get Bob as a server, tip hard!

One of the best restaurants in Athens I’ve been to. They use high quality ingredients and have some very refined dishes on the menu.
Great spot for a quiet, fancy dinner. The restaurant is a converted house, so there are several areas that separate guests which is kind of nice. It keeps the noise low and feels more private.
Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and knew how different dishes were prepared and explained what to expect from each dish we asked about.
Plan to spend around $40/plate plus more for any drinks. Well worth the price.

Beautiful and historic restaurant. Had the pickles snack and the grilled peaches for an appetizer, and they were fantastic. Highly recommend. My Catfish main was light and tasty - very well portioned. Do yourself a favor and if you are looking for a nice restaurant in Athens. Put this on your list. I should add that the staff was very friendly and provided great recommendations and drink pairings. Well done

Had a holiday dinner party here recently and it was fantastic! From the cocktails, to the pimento cheese appetizer, the delicious catfish, and the lemon cheesecake, this place did not disappoint!

Every course was sublime and beyond our expectations. Cocktails were tasty and the desserts are to die for!
Bob was our server and he was perfection.

Five and Ten was fantastic. The menu is eclectic American, and the bar had a good selection of beer and drink options. There is an extensive wine list that looked great, but we were not drinking wine this evening.
The three of us split two appetizers- a caprese salad that was fresh and tasty, and the mushroom risotto, which was possibly the best thing we ate. We also shared a pickle plate that was both delicious and refreshing.
For mains, we ordered the 1/2 roasted chicken, the pork chop, and spaghetti. All three were prepared beautifully and tasted great. We also split the cornbread wit honey butter which was also a highlight.
The waitstaff and support were friendly and informative and made the meal even more delightful.
If you are in Athens, this is a great spot!

Well I’ll definitely be voting for Allyssa as best server in the next round Flagpole Favorites! The food was good too.

I have reviewed 5&10 before. They continue to deliver excellent food with great service. The restaurant takes care of their employees and customers. It is one of the few restaurants I would dine inside during the pandemic.
Today we tried their Ramen Meal Kit. The manager sent me an email as soon as I placed the order, letting me know when the food would be ready. The instructions were easy to follow and the ingredients were packaged well. I finished preparing the dish in around 25 minutes and surprised my girlfriend with a 5&10 night at home. The quality was there, I would recommend trying one next time they are available.
