The Shack Cafe

We ordered a cheeseburger and a Avocado Burger and a bowl of fresh fruit for our one year old and the fruit could not have been fresher. Our meals were cooked to perfection. We can't wait to go back.

Flew into Steamboat from Longmont for brunch with my mom and and friend. First place we tried had a 1 h wait. No wait at The Shack. Cozy and warm for winter brunch. I had BLT, mom had biscuits and gravy, friend had Monte Cristo. All delicious.

Great Steamboat locals' breakfast and lunch hangout with excellent food and lively atmosphere. Happy to see it has remained largely unchanged over the years!

First, staff was great. Friendly, attentive, responsive.

The breakfast though was about as poor as I have had... ever... anywhere.

I had the Huevos Rancheros. It was a bit shocking when it came out. I've never seen Huevos look so unappealing. The could pico de gallo thrown on top did not help. The bread that came with it (perhaps that should have been a red flag... bread with Huevos??) was dry. I had to ask for butter and they only had the packets of butter from the fridge, which means they are cold and solid and can't be spread without tearing up the bread. The chocolate milk was milk. I think they may have set it next to some chololate syrup and thought nature just might take care of it.

It should be noted that the atmosphere is good and, as I mentioned, the staff was great. Given the other reviews, perhaps it is just breakfast that is bad, or perhaps just the Huevos. However, my experience had the food being epic-ly bad.

The quickest service, the quickest food delivery to your table, great service all the time and a good atmosphere to enjoy your meal in. I've been eating here for years, even through the new owner and I will keep coming back forever! <3

I have been frequently this place to The Last 5 years which pains me to leave a bad review. Last time I was in I had bad service that turned worse. Long story short I left 15% tip on a ticket because of the poor service. About a week later I notice my card was charged 50% for that same ticket? This place stole from us. Will not return.

Had a delicious pancake breakfast the other day and a burger today for lunch. Prices are very reasonable for this area and the service is great.

Good food but never come at peak time due to the horible organization. Waiting in line for a table for two and large tables were seated before us because the staff refuses to take names. The only reason I give this 2* is due to good food. You have been warned not to show up during peak hours! This business needs to fix it's problems.

This is just really good "diner-type" food. We always enjoy a good meal here when we're in the area!

Came in close to closing time about 30 mins before. Ordered the waitress recommendation of eggs Benedict with avocado, bacon and tomato... yum right?!
My Benedict came with a fried egg instead of poached, a flat biscuit with old tomatoes thats skin was stringing off the edges. Hash browns were cooked to a crisp and tasted burnt and crunchy. The meal was nothing special to say the least. I usually don't write reviews even with a poor experience but to charge $14.95 for something that disappointing really bummed me out.... not sure I'll be back.
