Stepping into the Frost Cafe is like stepping into a time capsule.

The place is smallish and it was a bit confusing when we first walked in because we weren't sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or not. Folks who came in after us had the same dilemma. Finally one of the customers at the window counter, said, "I think you're supposed to seat yourselves". We thanked him and grabbed the only table that was open.

Our waitress was cheerful as well as helpful with the menu. Husband ordered the patty melt with chip and I got the tuna melt (waitress' recommendation) with fries.

Patty melt was excellent although the patties were much smaller than the bread. The chips were small (bottom of the bag?) and much too salty. The tuna melt was quite yummy but I don't recall grilled onions being listed on the menu so I had to pick those off. The fries were run-of-mill and we will skip them as well as the chips in the future.

We'd love to give this place a try for breakfast the next we're in town early.

*As others have noted, Frost Cafe only accepts cash - be prepared.*

This casual diner is a great place for some comfort food and a cup of coffee. American diners are the heart of a town and I love the community it brings in. The breakfast food served here is so delicious.

This diner is amazing!!!! When we travel we always look for small scale diners and this one tops our list of favorites. The food is delicious and you get more than a serving, if you leave hungry it's your fault lol. BRIDGET one of the waitresses was absolutely phenomenal. Conversation like we knew each other and made us feel right at home. If you are ever in Culpeper (which I strongly suggest) do yourself a favor and stop in for some good food and great Conversation .

Nothing overly fancy, and the food was a little bland, but sometimes just a greasy spoon Diner breakfast is exactly what you need. I ordered the country fried steak breakfast with home fries and eggs. Everything could have have used salt, the country fried steak seemed frozen and reheated like it came in a box pre-made, the potatoes could have used some onions, salt, pepper or something but it was cheap fast and exactly what I wanted at the time. This place does not accept cash but they have an ATM inside.

Super friendly small town diner. Gets pretty busy on weekends for breakfast. Most of the time no waiting for a table. Nice windows to watch Main St traffic while eating your food.

Pretty good option for breakfast. Typical diner atmosphere. Food is good, and the staff is okay. Not impressed with the food outside of the breakfast menu, as the lunch offerings are mediocre at best.

Nellie Frost Café is small café adjacent from the historic Boone Taverns’ dining room. The elegance of Boone Tavern flows into the café with striking blue and gold tones throughout the space. A display of high-quality souvenirs dresses the back wall, as well as quaint seating areas for small groups of 3. The baristas are friendly serving both coffees, espresso drinks, and spirits. I was thrilled at the taste of my beverage-the Frost Café upholds Berea College’s mission for high grade ingredients.

Everything you would expect from an American diner. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day every day! The food was very tasty. Friendly atmosphere. Seems like a place that locals frequent.

Wonderful southern breakfast! This gal enjoyed the country fried steak, grits & biscuits. Got an extra biscuit to take back north! Yum!!!!!
