This cafe has been described as "ridiculously good." That description is entirely accurate. The food, service and decor are delightful. I spent 1 1/2 hours sipping coffee in a table in the bay window by the hearth.

Amazing food, great coffee, friendly wait staff. If you dine in you get a free coffee or tea cup to go!

Made a mental note to come back and give these guys their deserved 5 star review. My wife and I came for breakfast during our anniversary trip in June 2021 and this was such a relaxing and peaceful dining experience. Part of my satisfaction was, surely, the fact that we biked from Alvarado Station for breakfast and coffee. But also, service and customer focus was so pleasant and spot-on. There was a small hiccup with our order and our server just left the slight inaccuracy on our table to enjoy instead of having us wait while they fixed the mistake. The baristas really know what they're doing. Espresso is perfectly prepared.

Our experience this past weekend was amazing. In contrast to our simple visit from the summer, we also had our 3 kids (7, 4, and 1yo) and in-laws, which automatically complicated things. Add to that my middle kid's food allergies and random shrieks from my youngest, the whole staff was incredibly attentive and accommodating. One of the chefs in the kitchen was able to prepare an off-menu bowl of oatmeal made with almond milk, brown sugar, and the oats they use for the house-made granola for my 4 year old with a dairy and egg allergy. I should also mention the hot chocolate made with almond milk! This level of service was so special and appreciated.

I wish I recalled our server's name from Monday, 10/18. However, to management: keep inspiring your staff and promoting a great work environment. You have keepers on staff. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add allergy-sensitive items as permanent offerings on your menu, although I do generally appreciate an intentionally limited menu.

Awesome food, coffee and atmosphere. The owner Hue is floating in and around making sure things are just right. The food is amazing and prepared from scratch on site.

We're not from around here (traveling from Texas). Outstanding menu of foods and coffees! My kids cannot have gluten or dairy and they were able choose any item on the menu and they would adjust for their dietary restrictions. I cannot tell you how amazing a find this has been. My kids both had the Hungry Savage (chicken & bacon sandwich) and a decaf Mocha made with almond milk. I got a Flat White coffee.

They've been open less than a year and given the amount of customers I saw they are going very strong (one of them who is here most days told me everything is good here). Also they have friendly, knowledgeable and conscientious staff and we got to meet the owners too who are quite personable and friendly!

What a lovely, sweet little cafe in the quaint town of Abingdon. In one visit it became a favorite place. I loved everything about it. The cappuccino in the sweet little mugs, the delicious biscuits, Benton's bacon, incredible sausage gravy, beautiful artwork, and even loved the music playing while we enjoyed our meal and conversation with Hugh the owner. It was a highlight on our visit to Abingdon and we can't wait to go back!

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Out of the 150 reviews I have left this one deserves praise above all the rest. The employees were awesome, the food was amazing, and the family that owns it was great to talk to. As of writing this there was one 1 star review but you can completely ignore that. They deserve a Michelin Star and more business than Abington can provide. All that said it was kind of expensive but you get what you pay for here.

If I am ever returning to Abington or staying nearby I will definitely stop here again.

It may look like your average local coffee shop, but The Girl & The Raven is anything but.

This gorgeous establishment has tremendous coffee, lunch, and dinner. As a visitor from Washington, DC this place holds a fond place in my heart. The staff is attentive, the food is served quickly, and you leave with new sets of friends (Hugh, the owner). I ordered the Brussel sprouts, a cocktail, wine, and fresh-pressed juice. By the end of the meal, I was already planning my next visit.

My friends and I, from the Entrepreneurship for the Public Good (EPG) Program at Berea College, culminated our 2 night stay in Abingdon by having breakfast at the Girl and the Raven. I must say wholeheartedly that I had the BEST hot chocolate! A definite must visit!

This is a great place not only for Abingdon, but also anyone passing by on I-81. The drive through window provides a quick getaway if needed, or the staff indoors will take care of you! We called ahead for brunch to see if there was a wait, and instead they offered to prep a table for us since we were on the way. The coffee was great, and the fresh roasted beans were just as good at home! Awesome biscuits and great SW VA cuisine. Highly recommend.
