Haymaker Bun Company

We tried the Arcadian for diner for my mom's birthday. We specifically requested a table on the deck. We arrived on time and we're told that our table wasn't ready, but we could sit inside or wait at the bar. We decided to wait at the bar since it was hot and very noisy inside. The hostess was very nice, but seemed like she had a lot going on.

We waited at the bar for a long time. The bar tender ignored us for awhile then seemed disinterested in serving us. When our table was finally available, she seemed to be hinting that we should pay for our drinks at the bar rather than just adding it to the food bill at the end. Not sure why that would matter unless she was hoping to not share the tip.

I was going to go with 3 stars for this review based on what I've mentioned above, but the quality of the food and our waitress gave it a boost to 4 stars. The waitress was extremely nice and accommodating. She joked around with us some too and made us laugh. The food was very very good. They do have options other than pasta, but the pasta dishes definitely stole the show. Fresh and full of flavor.

I will definitely try the Arcadian again, but I'll opt to go earlier in the day on a slower night when they can actually handle the volume.

I love Haymaker and The Arcadian any time of day. Morning options include a fabulous array of scones, buns, muffins, sometimes donuts or cookies and always GF and vegan options. Incredible that we have a Paris trained pastry chef here! Lunch may be my current favorite in part because it is somewhat new and brings an array of offbeat, creative sandwiches and grain bowls to the mix. Dinner is a treat and can range from an early bite to a special occasion depending on what you order. Bonus that you are greeted by a team of friendly faces among staff and regulars. Most of all, I love the place they hold in the community. Matt and Caroline are incredibly hard workers who bring so much to both residents and visitors to Middlebury. Lucky us.

This is our new favorite restaurant. Our family of five dined here last night and everything was spot on. Great ambiance and attentive staff, creative cocktails and wonderful wine. The homemade pastas are devine (my kids had those), and the duck was rich, succulent, and melted in my mouth. Make sure to try the Olive Oil Cake for dessert!

The kind of place that turns any bad day around. Delicious food and great service! A gem of Addison County.

Fresh, local, fantastic food offerings. Super friendly and attentive service. We will be back!

Beautiful location to grab breakfast, brunch, or lunch. I love that the bun flavors change with the seasons.

Wow. I am honestly so impressed. This restaurant is still very new and our experience was top notch in all respects... an impressive feat for any new business. The food was so, so good - on par with handmade pasta-centric Italian restaurants in big cities. I no longer have to dream of returning to Flour & Water in San Francisco for pasta dishes of that quality. Solid cocktails. Great decor and ambiance. Pleasant staff. I hope to return often.

While the buns & pastries & coffees were good, no; they are not the best ever. The restaurant was fun & trendy.

Haymaker Buns is one of my favorite places to bring clients! Their homemade buns are AMAZING and the espresso is great too! The environment is welcoming, clean and inviting!

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. The staff was very accommodating for our large group. The cocktails were amazing! Our meals were all delivered at the same time (seems to be a hard thing for many other establishments with a large party) and were so good! This is just what Middlebury needed. Can’t wait to return!
