While first walking into the Minifactory, I was invited with a sweet aroma and vibrant colors filling the cafe/shop. In the back left corner of the store, there is a little retail section filled with local produce, meats, cold beverages, and, of course, V Smiley products. I personally purchased some Raspberry Jam from them (can confirm it's absolutely delicious).
When I visited (Monday, March 28th) for breakfast and coffee, they were on their final day of a three-day soft opening, meaning they only had their Pecan Ginger Scones left in stock for pastries. Let me tell ya, fantastic scones! A crisp and crunchy outside with a soft and delicate inside. Also, quite filling!
Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of this, but I also a got beautiful Cappuccino from their current Barista, Noah. He's very friendly and makes some damn good coffee! The rest of the staff were also very lovely! They also had this coffee cheat sheet which is very useful for someone who knows next-to-nothing about coffee (like me).
It cost me $30 total for a Cappuccino, Two Scones, the Jam, and a tip. The Jam was most expensive item I bought ($13). While certainly not dirt cheap, everything here is well worth it's price!
All in all, V Smiley's Minifactory is a cozy and splendid experience!
A friend who lives in Bristol recommended this for breakfast while we were visiting the area. We were a little disappointed that they didn’t have a hot breakfast available the day that we went, but apparently it fluctuates from day today. We were not disappointed by the sandwiches, cheese and crackers and dips and things we purchased from the cold case. We also enjoyed coffee and golden milks and some baked goods. There were four of us and we spent a little over $100. It was pricey but everything was delicious!
Delicious high quality coffee and a waffle that I can't stop thinking about.. Made with some sort of hearty grains, topped with a cherry fresh whipped cream, pistachios and VT maple- pretty bonkers. The buttermilk biscuit with their preserves was quite a treat as well. Bright, modern atmosphere.. great local goods for sale. Looking forward to enjoying more menu items.
I can't believe anyone would rate this restaurant as anything but a 5+. I've eaten here three times and each time has been truly sensational. The food is locally sourced and beautifully prepared. Every soup, salad, biscuit, sandwich, pastry and herbal tea I've tried has been outstanding. I also love that the owner has tried so hard to be ecologically responsible, using cloth napkins, avoiding plastic, and working to use organic and fair trade sourcing of products. The cinnamon buns are to die for. But if you want to watch your waistline, try one of their scrumptious salads or soups. This place is simply not to be missed. And might I add, I am a customer but not a friend or family member. I rarely rave like this, but this one is a winner. Go now!
Everything that comes out of the Mini Factory kitchen is exceptional! And I love the atmosphere. A small menu but easily some of the best food in the state of Vermont! You can tell everything is made with deep care and expertise. Great little market, too.
I have not frequented this bakery a lot, despite living in Bristol and being especially fond of bakeries, due to the limited hours and exorbitant prices. Jones The Boy Bake Shop (which also has limited hours) is generally both very good, and much more reasonable price wise. I stop in to Minifactory now and then because they carry the absolute best bread (Downhill Bread) to be had in Vermont. However, today I ate a four dollar "Jammy donut" that was the best donut I have ever had. I ate it in the car for breakfast, experienced donut ecstacy, and went back in for another one. I have had other expensive, but delicious, items here (there were, at one point, some small, but wonderful linzer type cookies with some sort of plum jam), though nothing quite that good. It almost pains me to say it, but some culinary quality is worth the price and the effort that may keep it out of the hands of those Vermonters with lower incomes. That donut was really just THAT good.
Their brunch menu is very tasty and creative. More contemporary rendering of breakfast items. Their baked good are fresh and also very delicious. The ambiance and interior style is gorgeous. LGBTQI+ supportive.

Come here if I need a pastry if nothing else is open, not into their coffee choice so I head elsewhere for that. Somewhat pricey for everyday pop-ins.
