Cafe Lago

We had our 1st meal today. I had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and it was delicious. My wife had a Turkey Club with mushroom soup. She loved the soup and wants to replicate the it.

Not a positive thing to say. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were greeted by two employees whispering to each other “cerrado” which translates to closed. Apparently we should have taken this as a sign that we shouldn’t eat here. Every staff member was disgruntled and angry to even be at work. We were at the restaurant an hour and a half before closing time and still received that greeting. The host asked us if we wanted to eat inside or outside, when we requested outside he said the tables were reserved... why did he even ask then? Mind you there were four tables open. So he chose to seat us in the worst seat of the house right by the door when there were multiple open tables inside.

Now talk about the food. Wow simply terrible. Ordered the Migas which I eat regularly in McAllen, TX. The eggs were burnt and it tasted worse than trying to cook migas at home. I was completely disappointed. Will never recommend this to anyone.

We went to cafe lago 3 of the 4 mornings we were in Lakeway. The Lakeway resort was using COVID-19 as an excuse to not open their restaurant so we ventured out and found this place. It was great. The breakfast burritos are big and tasty. The pancakes are perfect and they even made my egg whites and oatmeal the way I like it.

Two thumbs up.

Every time my girlfriend and I visit Austin Cafe Lago is on our to do list, they have the BEST coffee and the best food for an amazing price. And they are all so friendly this is a must for a breakfast or lunch if you’re in Austin.

Tasty, generous dishes, cozy feel to the place. Had breakfast twice there and enjoyed both times. Good prices too!

We found this place a few weeks ago and really liked it. It is really tiny and a little understaffed, but the food was good and the coffee was hot. The fare is simple and nothing we had stood out as something we had to come back for, but everything was fine and we will definitely eat here again.

Community breakfast, lunch and coffee house. Indoor and outdoor seating. Pleasant atmosphere with delicious tasty menu items. Very reasonable with good size portions. The wife and I have had breakfast there twice now. Absolutely delicious.
