Cafe Lago

I was staying at Lakeway Resort recently. I had a hard time finding good coffee at the hotel. I found this great small cafe, Cafe Lago. They we not too busy around noon. But at breakfast it is really busy. I had the Mint Mocha. It tasted so good I went back the next day for another.

Making this comment to give feedback in the hopes that management will take this into consideration. I'm no food expert however I do eat out quite often. This is one of the only breakfast places in town so no competition. Service is excellent and friendly. Now let's get down to the 1 star I gave. The food is terrible, I will explain why. I have been here 3 times and each time I left I was like I'm never coming back and then I'm like maybe they just had a bad day so I give it another chance.
1. Pancake has zero flavor (tastes like it was made out of a box)
2. Bacon is always undercooked, too salty or burnt
3. Coffee has no flavor and always tastes burnt.

My wife asked for avocado toast once and they said the server said the kitchen wouldn't make it and bought out some avocado slices and 2 pieces of toast

My suggestion, there are places like Eats in Las Vegas, only serve breakfast food, the pancake has a secret recipe they won't share. They serve breakfast and have mastered it. If you mainly serve breakfast then you should be trying to perfect it and if pancakes and French toast are a big seller people should be walking out saying " wow that pancake was amazing and I can't wait to go back"

Nothing wrong. Nothing to delight. Friendly staff and fried food cooked competently. Inside has all the charm of a factory canteen. Great place for club members and firemen to meet but would I go out of my way to visit. Hell no!

This is the second time I've been here. The first time was months ago and the omelet was overcooked and rubbery. Thought I would try again thinking the first time might have been a fluke. It wasn't. Ordered biscuits gravy sausage with an egg on the side. The sausage patty was so over cooked I could not cut it. I had to go to the hostess to get a response. Our waitress was taking orders outside. About 5 minutes later she came with the sausage which was marginally better. There has to be better breakfast places near Lakeway.

I won't go again. I received the wrong order and then was told it would take 15 minutes to bring me the correct pancakes. The bacon had a bad smell and the coffee was like warm water.

Nice local spot. Great breakfasts.

What a hidden gem. Staff was nice and food was scratch made and delicious. We ate out on the cute patio. Cute breakfast place and we will be back.

Would rate it a zero if I could. We requested my food three times. Sure the waitress was nice however I never got any food that was ordered. Not even the wrong order. Busy place, our table requested more refills and they were certainly not attending to that either. Go here if you plan on not eating.

We typically go here for breakfast with our newborn. The food is good and is one of the only options in the area. However, we won't be going there again.

We went on a Tuesday at 10am and the place was packed with a group of 5 waiting. The sign said Seat Yourself, but they asked us to put our name down. Then a party that had 3 free seats offered to share the empty half of their table as we had the aforementioned baby in her car seat. We accepted and sat down. We were then told to get up and vacate those seats cause they were being saved for a 2 person party. Where was this party? Does a hostess work here? The waitresses here are always frazzled and deliver substandard service. The exchange today could have been handled more graciously - it was not the first time were treated rudely by Cafe Lago waitresses, but it will be the last.

I'd gladly pay more and travel a bit farther for the same caliber food but with better service.
