We stopped here for lunch on the way home from Highlands and it was one of the best decisions we made during our vacation! I got the chicken gyro and my husband got the pick 3 platter (he got hummus, pimento cheese, and chicken salad). We didn't have the desserts but we had heard great things. Everything was fantastic! I appreciated how spaced out the tables were from each other and that all employees were wearing masks. I highly recommend stopping here!

Delicious, delicious! The veggie quiche was superb! Prompt service with relaxed ease. Great Sunday brunch for my mom's 80th birthday. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'm a frequent visitor to Black Mountain, but this is the first time I've actually been able to eat lunch at the Veranda Cafe. Excellent experience all the way around. First, the food was outstanding. I tried one of the special soups - a creamed collard greens and ham - and the special of the day - Asian pineapple chicken curry over rice. Both were savory and delicious. Topped this off with a delectable salted caramel cheesecake with freshly made decaf coffee. Perfect complement to the meal. Also, the staff was friendly and attentive (even with a full house), and the decor/environment was warm and cozy on a sunny but chilly day outside. I would also recommend getting there early. By noon on a Tuesday, the restaurant was full with a growing waiting list. But the wait is worth it. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Restaurant and Staff!!
I heard Veranda Cafe had amazing food and a mushroom soup that was awesome.
It was my birthday and my wife and I wanted to eat lunch somewhere special. It was a rainy day and we had our dog with us. We were very happy to learn that Veranda Cafe has a back deck that is covered and is dog friendly.
When we arrived they were just getting ready to open. 4 girls (staff from Veranda) came out and petted Chop our dog and they brought water for him and dog biscuits and made us and Chop feel so welcome.
I ordered a Kraft Beer and a Hungarian Mushroom soup and Monica ordered a beer and Lima Bean and Ham soup. The beer was cold and the soups were beautiful and packed full of amazing flavor. We were on cloud nine.
For the main lunch course I got the chicken gyro plate with hummus and Monica got a 1/2 turkey with cranberry sandwich on cranberry nut bread. The food not only looked amazing but was most delicious!
The food here is prepared with love and skill.
The staff here is amazing and makes you feel like you are in a great place before you even have one drink or bite of food.
This is now one of my favorite restaurants on the planet and I can't wait to return.
I've posted pics on here and I hope they will be up soon.
Don't postpone Joy - go to Veranda Cafe and Gifts.

Fast, friendly service and good food. The Bavarian Pretzel Club and Turkey Berry Brie Sandwich hit the spot after a morning of wondering around downtown.

Veranda is a lovely restaurant and gift shop with a quaint atmosphere. We l0vE iT! The food is delicious and the menu has a nice variety for folks with various dietary restrictions. The fact that it's in Black Mountain is just icing on the cake!
Come by and enjoy!

Have eaten here twice. Once was a year ago and then just recently. We live about 6 hours away and would not come through here without stopping to eat. The white bean soup with sausage is superb and the staff is efficient and friendly. Will definitely return.

Great food with unique bundle of flavors. New age menu with ample portion size at reasonable prices. Small outside back porch available. Staff masked and sanitises tables between customers. Open o ly for lunch, 7 days per week. Our go to spot when in Black Mtn. Get there early very popular and gets crowded.

I enjoyed lunch today at Veranda. Although they were very busy at noon, I was seated quickly. The meatloaf sandwich was very good. I also enjoyed the soup, salted carmel cheesecake for dessert, and a specialty iced tea.
