The Hungarian Mushroom soup was very good, nice paprika flavor. I had the Bavarian Pretzel Sandwich which had nice tasting ham and mustard. Good service and a calm atmosphere for lunch dining

Always stop by on the way to Maggie Valley. So many delicious offerings, I really wanted the Havarian Club Pretzel hot sandwich but on a diet so stuck with a simple, healthy salad. It was still great. Better because of the homemade herb balsamic vinaigrette.

Veranda Cafe is our new favorite lunch stop when passing through Black Mountain. Reasonable prices, varied menu. It's on a one-way back street, so you may have to look for it. For dessert, the Hop ice cream shop is directly across the street.

I ordered the half of club sandwich and cup of Hungarian Mushroom soup....loved it and still took half the sandwich home and ate it for dinner...came with chips too...all delicious ...my husband was just as pleased with his order...you gotta try the elderberry lemonade.... awesome....second time visit and definitely will be back...service was wonderful too!!

I recommend sitting on the back porch for the beautiful view. 100% recommend the elderberry lemonade! The staff was friendly and professional. All around a great environment with good food.

The soup is amazing, but go for the soup only. The sandwiches are small and very overpriced. $11-$12. In fact, it made me so unhappy that I had to have a pep talk with myself so it didn’t ruin my day. I would go back for the soup though.

The atmosphere at this popular cafe is lively and friendly. The energy in the room is from a mixture of regulars and tourists queing up for a simple lunch menu consisting of soups, sandwiches, salads, and deserts.
The roast beef sandwich on paninni with horseradish sauce and a side of au jus, and chips, was very tasty. The hint of horeradish was subtle, just enough to elevate the roast beef. I wouldn't have minded a touch more.
The asian chicken wrap, and chips, my wife ate was decent, but nothing special. It was large enough to take half of it home for a snack.
We shared a single slice of bourbon pecan pie, and it was delicious. The bourbon flavor was not overpowering, but you definitely taste it. It was my favorite part of the meal and at only $5.00, it was priced right.
Overall, it was a nice lunch. Our server was sweet, fun, and took care of us well. I'm not sure if our wait time at the table was unusual for this cafe, but we waited more than 30 minutes for our sandwiches. We chalked it up to the crowd.
At nearly $39.00, this was not an inexpensive sandwich meal for two. But it was good. Four stars for value.

A delightful treat. The waitstaff made us feel like were old friends. The Black eye pea soup was fantastic. There were more ham chunks in that soup than what we put in our soup. I guarantee that we will be back the next time we visit Black mountain.

Bread was dry, but friendly waitress. Service was good
