Village Bakery & Cafe, Rochester NY

It’s an order for a breakfast sandwich this morning. They told me 20 to 25 minutes which is abnormally long. I said oh you must be busy! And they responded yes we are. I show up 25 minutes later and my order was lost :-(. The person said that they could not rush my order because they were so busy and I had to leave. I don’t see why a sandwich can be rushed from your mistakes :-( this definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Ordered a build your own breakfast sandwich. It was delicious, but they forgot the bacon, the one thing I actually ordered the sandwich for. Will never be back. Anybody know a breakfast sandwich place in Rochester than get it right every time?!

I used to go here a lot before the pandemic, so I know there's a longer than expected wait time and I make sure not to go unless I have a few minutes to spare. However...the time before last, it took half an hour to get a toast tasting (4 pieces of toast) and a kids sandwich, with hardly any orders in front of mine. The next (and last) time I went, I tried my luck with the toast tasting again...after 15 minutes I learned they never rang my order in. If pieces of toast cause this much trouble, I don't dare try anything else on the menu these days.

The new grocery options are great. They definitely have the best sourdough loaf in the area (I've tried several). It keeps throughout the week for sandwiches and lunches. The chicken salad and ham is also good. Love how they package the groceries and how quick and on time everything is for a very convenient pick up.

Have been getting a lot of delicious food here lately. The app is pretty user friendly and its usually ready when we arrive. However there have been a few times where our orders have been messed up which is a bit frustrating. But the food is tasty and the staff is friendly.

I got one of their open face breakfast sandwiches and they didn't cover both sides of the croissant with egg, cheese, & sausage...it was disappointing as it was too much egg on it to expect that someone would place the top of the sandwich over the bottom. They should have split the egg, cheese, & sausage portion such that half of each would be on each half of the croissant. Their coffee was also very bitter.

Staff is incredible. They always keep it together despite being very busy and very stressed. They probably should get a raise because they are productive as hell.

😍 Oh-my-salad! I've walked by The Village Bakery half a dozen times but I feel like I'm always there as it's closing...! Today I finally made it in for lunch and got the Mediterranean salad, which was a freaking mazing. This place will definitely be a lunchtime favorite, and despite the fact that I came in at dead on noon on a Friday, it took less than 5 minutes to get our food, we were able to find a place to sit and the whole visit was nice. The only thing that was even remotely unpleasant was that about halfway through lunch the overhead music kicked on, and with the high ceilings, cement floors and overall acoustics of the place it became difficult to hear each other. A great place for a quick casual lunch on your own or with a group!

I developed several food intolerances last year - gluten being one of them - and am SO sad I can’t eat their sandwiches or desserts anymore. They’re absolutely delicious. Though, I still love to stop here for the atmosphere and coffee. I appreciate that they have coconut milk, as I also can’t consume dairy or nuts/almond milk. Their salads are hearty and yummy too!
