We were a little skeptical about this place after leaving Yellowstone, but the place exceeded our expectations. Friendly wait staff, rustic furnishings and great food. The staff takes pride in their craft and introduced us to the cook who made the amazing soups and desserts. Stop in for a visit.

EDIT: 6/4/2017 This place is now open at 5:30AM - great for getting a bite before going into the park. It also open until 10PM so you can have a great dinner before driving back through Lamar to one of the Yellowstone Hotels too...
One of most favorite places of all time! Located just outside of Yellowstone National Park. Its perfect for getting brunch after a morning of watching wildlife. Owner operated by a great staff and who is highly supportive of the local community. The food is really good the location is warm and historic. So how many times have I ate here? Probably 30 or more. Had just about everything they make. We get up go watch wildlife in the park - drive to Log Cabin and then back out into the park. You won't go hungry leaving this place. Remember too you are in a canyon basically a very long way from any large town too!

We stopped at the Log Cabin Cafe for breakfast before backpacking in Yellowstone and liked it so much went there for lunch on our way out! The atmosphere is so cozy and comforting, I couldn't help but feel at home. The food is delicious (especially the French toast!) and the service is very friendly. Next time we go to Yellowstone we will definitely be eating here again.

Stopped for breakfast this morning...coffee came out of the pot cold. Could wait on half the people who were there. The sausage was lousy, my son's eggs had an eyelash in it....when we finally got hot coffee is was weak (and that's being nice). Honestly, I can't understand the high reviews here. The waitress was polite...that's honestly the best thing I can say... Actually their pancakes were good. But overall... Slow service, bad coffee, eyelash in eggs...not returning, not sure what people are reviewing.

Coming from Texas, the land of Tex-Mex, I was highly skeptical of the cuisine offered outside of Texas. Ordered chorizo enchiladas and was greeted with some of the best Texican food I've ever had.
I learned they have a foreign exchange program, which explains why their recipes are solid.
The staff was courteous and the view and weather were wonderful at sunset.

We stopped here for lunch and were pretty underwhelmed. The tomato basil soup had no flavor and we couldn’t finish it, and the beef burgers were really under-seasoned. Cooke City is pretty remote and there aren’t a lot of options for food, so with that in mind this place is about what you would expect. Servers were very nice though!

3.5 Stars - two fold review, firstly the food as a cafe is worthy of 4 stars on its own. Very nice, fresh, and tasty. Great pumpkin bread and lovely breakfast.
As a sleeping experience it was a 3 star visit for us and the potential is much much higher. it was a little disappointing. The showers were, dirty, unclean and flooded.
The service in the cafe was also a bit frosty with the owner/ manager a little harsh to her staff, who themselves seemed scared of her and was uncomfortable.
I would visit again,

We showed up at 1 minute after close and we were still welcomed in anyway and treated to one of the best meals we had in a long time. the burger was amazing the salad was amazing and the service was still top notch. They were very helpful in finding lodging. When we come back that way we will be stopping again.

We stayed and ate here on our way to Yellowstone. The breakfast was not good. I had French toast with eggs and bacon. The toast had so much cinnamon that it was not edible, my scrambled eggs were still runny, and my bacon was burned. The lighting in the restaurant is so poor you can’t really see your food. However- the staff is super sweet and helpful. I did have hummus the night we arrived and it was delicious.

Wonderful family business just one mile from the Northeast entrance of Yellowstone. The food is high quality and is definitely not your average diner food. The trout breakfast is awesome and we even had Mexican food one night. The food is relatively affordable (except some of the beer) and Silver Gate is a cute frontier town on the other side of Beartooth. Silver Gate also features some resident bison. Make a stop at the log cabin cafe before hitting Lamar Valley!
