Been to Paynes 2x while traveling I69 from Indy to Fort Wayne. Food is really good. Soup selection is amazing. If you like English style Fish and Chips - you will love this place. Manager is from Liverpool, super friendly and you can tell he is proud of what he does. Worth a stop and way better than the normal restaurants you find right off interstates.

I've driven past signs for this restaurant for years but never stopped until just now. Amazing traditional British food, friendly people, and cozy atmosphere made this a great unexpected stop. I'll be taking my whole family on our next trip up from Indianapolis to Michigan.

Nice little place off the beaten path. They started us off with complimentary bean dip and naan which was awesome even if it wasn’t free. We had the English Curry and Tomato & Thyme soup which was equally great. In addition they had some good drink options. Beats the hell out of all the chains around it!

English food in Indiana was an unexpected find! Great atmosphere and amazing friendly staff, best service I have had in a long time! Food was great. Don't forget to see the Garfield statue.

First time at Paynes. I was looking for a place for lunch. I walked from the marathon where I parked my truck. This place is absolutely amazing. The service is outstanding 👏 👌 and I ordered the fish and chips. Unbelievable portions and very reasonable prices. And the staff are awesome and friendly. 5 stars is to low I give it 8.

A very nice place to get authentic British food! I've been here many times now, and the food has always been of exceptionally high quality and has always tasted great. Definitely recommend the fish and chips and the bread pudding--they're both amazing.
The atmosphere is somewhere in-between casual and 'fine dining', but for the quality and authenticity of the food, I think the prices are reasonable.
Definitely a place you have to stop at if you're passing through the area or are in search of good fish and chips or curry.

This is a Delightful gem of a restaurant!
The biggest problem here is that there are too many delicious-sounding things on the menu and I only have one stomach.
The waiter was ever so polite and charming; and the food was phenomenal! The curry, though mild for the Midwestern palette, was richly flavorful. The soups are beautifully balanced (though both were great, I highly recommend the sweet potato apple and ginger soup!). though it will be tempting to order every appetizers and entree on the menu, Do yourself a favor and make sure to save some room for dessert :)

We enjoyed the fish & chips and tomato soup with grilled cheese 'sandwich' (usually served nested in the soup bowl, but my wife opted for on the side. I would try it as in the bowl next time.) A cup uf pork chili was very tasty, too.

We stopped to get a picture of Garfield but heard the desserts were good.
Definitely delicious and worth the stop in.

We actually lived in England for 4.5 yrs, we moved back to the states in 2014, tried a ton of "British pubs and fish & chip places" that were absolutely not good... Payne's is by far the most accurate, delicious English style fish & chip we have had in The US and Canada! Definitely is a go to place anytime we pass thru! My wife and I shared the large portion of Fish and it was almost too much!
