The Chocolate Moose

Great update on the original. Same great ice cream, updated facility. I wasn't sure I would like the moose becoming an inside business. We had always enjoyed the whole experience before, but I have to say we dig this new Moose.

The Brown County Coffee was so delish. I love that they also have a vegan section as well. Inlove the tiny kid's touch cone. The little eyes on it make is so delightful.

Famous ice cream joint in Bloomington - recently has been put into a new residential building and the old one demolished. The place has lost most of it's charm. The ice cream is still good though!

Always great service and always a great meal!! We absolutely love their sweet treats (I especially love the pineapple whip) but OMG the coney dogs are incredible too!!! Come check out The Chocolate Moose!

Ps: thanks for helping keep our community safe! I know masks are a touchy subject for some, but I’m a physician and I really value businesses who are looking out for the health of their staff and the Bloomington community alike! Keep up the great work 👍🏼

I love a good vanilla ice cream. I started buying their packaged pints from Babbs in Spencer, and it was literally the best vanilla ice cream I have ever had. (Chris Treager style). I went to the Chocolate Moose stand on walnut st. and got their homemade ice cream in a cup, and it wasn't the same as the one in the pint. This time It was just average vanilla ice cream. Turns out they have different ice-cream suppliers, and you never know what your going to get. As of yesterday, you can get the homemade vanilla in a pint for an amazing time.

Two weeks later and the ice cream is still incredible HOWEVER, The service window person taking orders was very rude and nasty. She was short and snippy. I was going to let it pass BUT when my wife told her "we have two peanut allergies" she snapped back,"You have nothing with peanuts except the one"
Well we get home and my daughter with the peanut allergy had a peanut in hers. We got her treatment she is fine but the carelessness on the person at the window to NOT let the makers of our orders about the allergy is unexcusable.
I hate to say but I think we're done

Great ice cream and great people! Was a little disappointed to see they added a surcharge fee based on how you pay because I didn't see it until after the fact. But overall best Ice cream in town!

I was incredibly disappointed with this establishment. As a family, we annually attend Hoosier Hysteria. This year we decided to try some local "great spots". I have several food allergies so I have to plan ahead, contact managers/owners, preview menu, etc to make sure it's going to be as positive of experience as possible. And I did do this. Well, when we arrived and I talked to them, they acted like they never had heard of me. So I tried to start from scratch (the wasn't a line behind us, we were not holding folks up, I do try to also be sensitive of that) I explained I was allergic to mushrooms (for example) what would be an ok thing for me to eat on the menu to best avoid cross contamination or would it be better to just not eat food and maybe only get ice cream?? I was told by 3 different people that they had/did not even have mushrooms in the building?!? So the employees could not agree if they even had this food product or not. Ok, just skip it, let's just get ice cream. The girl literally looks at me and says ok fine whatever, what do you want??!! We are paying you.... And there's 100 more places between here and home we can go spend our money, that actually care if we do, so that's what we did. Absolutely terrible customer service!!

Great place. Of course the ice cream is great. The coney dog is fantastic too! Also, they have been very good at taking precautions during covid. Masks are required indoors, and even if you are ordering outside. Way to go Chocolate Moose! If you are giving this company a one star review for HaViNg To WeAr A MaSk you are an asshat plain and simple.

They offer several flavors of vegan ice cream. The strawberry is my favorite. 🍓
