I always enjoy the food I get at Big Four and today was no exception. They're new menu item, Chicken Pot Pie, was absolutely delicious! Lots of chicken and veggies in a tasty gravy, topped with puff pastry makes for the perfect cold weather dish. I added a side salad and thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

Being from out of town, I decided to try this place on the recommendation of a hotel worker from the hotel I was staying in a nearby small town. I am so glad I checked it out! It was a Sunday and I showed up at around 2:45p, about a quarter till closing time. I was greeted with a smile and promptly seated. My young waiter, Cameron, was friendly and outgoing, explained the menu from which I ordered breakfast. The food was fresh, hot, and excellent! I can’t say enough about the food, and or the service - both five stars in my books. If given the opportunity I will not hesitate to return. If you’re in the area give this place a try. You won’t regret it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The Big Four Cafe is a restaurant based upon remembering the Big Four Railroad that arrived in Batesville in the 1800's. The decor is based upon advertisements from the Big Four and I believe some of the other decor was restored from the original Big Four Tavern.

With that being said, the entrance in located between 2 buildings. There is not a lot of parking and the road is one-way. We managed to get the last parking spot when we went at 2:30 PM in the afternoon. I'm sure there is more parking somewhere.

It is a very different sort of environment and I enjoyed it. You can tell how much the chef cares because the food was almost to pretty to eat.

Be prepared for a little bit pricier of a meal. This may not be a place you want to bring your small children. But the Smoked Gouda Arancini - worth every penny.

On a trip from out of town and stopped in for some hot chocolate. Was a delightful place to visit. Decorations and atmosphere were spot on. The food was absolutely fantastic and great flavor. Will definitely love to revisit in the future.

Tucked away in a neat old factory of some sort, my expectations were surpassed. I ordered the Gochujang Burger and it was AMAZING! Delicious fresh ground burger, topped with pulled pork, sweet slaw and a spicy Gochujang sauce. It was so amazing that after my wife tasted it, she ended up finishing it. I received in exchange a delicious BLT. I wouldn't normally order it, but this sandwich had ample bacon, tasty tomatoes and non-iceberg lettuce all on a local-made bun. This was a satisfying and yummy meal all while being served by friendly and cheerful staff

This was our first visit here. It will not be our last. Great food. Great service. Great prices. The atmosphere was very nice as well.

The food was great and you get a lot for the price. The service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean and well laid out. It's best to call ahead and make a reservation, though, to ensure availability.

If you are traveling from Bloomington, headed towards Cincinnati you will go through a town called Batesville. If you go through Batesville you must stop at the Big Four Cafè. Unfortunately, I am not on this route as often as I would like to be, but the meal that I had here stays on my mind more often than I would like to admit. Of course I’ve had chicken and waffles before and since, I’ve enjoyed them, but they have all blended together in banality. I remember every flavor of the Big Four’s Chicken and Waffles. My problem with this dish at most places is that they seem to have a specialty in either one or the other. They either have great chicken or they have great waffles. Never both. Big Four has both. It also has such an awesome location and a great staff. Don’t wait until you’re headed to Cincinnati, make the drive now.

Not what I expected, when you visit a "café" you'd assume it has a variety of coffee drinks, they did not. My first cup of coffee was dark and had a burnt taste like it was sitting in the pot for hours. I asked for a fresh cup and it was still a dark again but not burnt.
I gave it 2 stars because my wife enjoyed her creole shrimp pasta dish. My dish was the penne bolognese the menu described it as being "creamy" but it was more watery. I added meatballs to it they weren't fresh. Two of them where dried out around the edges and a bit crusty. Would I go back, not sure my wife enjoyed her dish though I was disappointed by the lack of choices of coffee and my dish didn't taste like any penne bolognese I have had at numerous places.

The ownership and staff were extremely friendly. I had the biscuits and gravy and Goetta. The portions are fine , but the price is definitely higher than other breakfast places. It's nice to be able to get breakfast all day long, but here you can get lunch all day as well.
