Good DECAF coffee, which is VERY hard to find. Most coffee places seem to assume that because you have to drink decaf (I'm caffeine sensitive) you've also given up on the need for coffee to actually TASTE GOOD. Well Maude's is one of the few with good decaf. Also, excellent "vibe". Great place for a casual date, or a quick breakfast to go. I get the gluten free egg/bacon wrap fairly often.

The only coffee shop in town still without a for-here cup option. There’s environmentalist art on the wall of a whale being injured by plastic straws, but you’re still giving away plastic lids with every cup of coffee with no for-here cup option.
Whatever pre-pandemic dishwashing process existed should have already sanitized the dishes in a way suitable enough to protect from hepatitis, let alone covid, it’s not a logical excuse.

Great atmosphere but lacking.
For one, this place is incredibly understaffed. There was a long line when we first showed up and it remained for the hour that we were there. The cashier was also responsible for making drinks, and many of these drinks are flavored lattes and teas. There seemed to be only two people in the back working on food and on e again, they have an extensive menu for a staff this small. One worker was responsible for running food and dropped it off so quickly that by the time I opened my mouth to ask for salt and pepper, he was already gone.
The food was good but the portions were underwhelming. I ordered a tandem breakfast wrap, which should have had double the egg, and the whole burrito was the length of my hand. It had nice proportions of meat, cheese, and egg but even for a small wrap (at the cost of $8), the end bites were all wrap and no fillings. My friend ordered a breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel but they were out of everything bagels, not the end of the world. For his sandwich, there was twice the amount of bagel as there was the filling for the sandwich (similar to my wrap).
The drinks we ordered, cafe au lait and a London fog latte, were tasty. The London fog has nice hints of lavender but I couldn't taste any notes of vanilla. Regardless, it was tasty. I wish I had ordered a large but I was unwilling to spend $8 for a drink.

I like Maude's teas, food, prices and atmosphere, but I wish they didn't allow smoking in the outdoor seating area. Often times, I will go and then people will come out and chain smoke one cigarette after another. It fills the whole space with second hand smoke even when it is windy. I would go there more if this was not the case.

I always go to Maude's for school work and for the overall vibe of the cafe. The workers are always polite and super nice to me. However, I went today 12/2/2020 and ordered what I always order, and iced dirty chai latte and some food. After I ordered, I gave a cash tip and proceeded to wait by the door since it was not busy. I went to take a sip of my coffee and a male worker very rudely tells me to put my mask up and to go wait somewhere else. So, I put my masks up and went to walk outside to wait, because I respect the rules.
The coffee was just not good. It did not taste how it usually does and I was not going to say anything but I did and I told them I did not like it. Which I know is annoying because I have worked in a restaurant before, but I would of remade the customer the drink anyways because they PAID for it and didn't like it. That is the respectful thing to do, but instead he with out apologizing says "I'll give you some chai on the side". Then sets it down and walks away. I asked, "can you please make me another one?" He said no, unless I pay for it. So I paid for another one. He made the other one and purposely put too much chai in it to be a jerk.
Overall, it was extremely poor customer service. The male that helped us was very rude and had zero respect for us. I hate to say it but, this experience makes me never want to go back. Definitely lost a loyal customer.

Good coffee and plenty of outlets (useful if you are trying to study). Generally a great spot to hang out any day of the week. There are almost always people smoking on the patio so if you aren't into that you are limited to indoors.

I've been to Maude's many times. Their coffee and food is good, but it is difficult to enjoy their outside patio due to the large number of homeless people that hang out there. You are almost guaranteed to be pan handled. Also, majority of the people on the patio are there to smoke so if that is an issue for you, don't sit outside. To top it off, however, is that their wifi is painfully slow. The past few times I've been, i've have had to hotspot off of my phone in order to use my laptop. Basically, Maude's is a wonderful cafe, but it needs a little work.

Know what to expect... Excellent coffee, great sandwiches, vegetarian friendly, nice, helpful staff. And during our lunch we got the distinct impression that we were in the library reading room which had been designed in a 60's coffee house style with plugs everywhere to accommodate your electronics and what appeared to be / felt like an unspoken, unwritten, 'No Talking' norm. Folks were studying, most under headsets, one corporate type was on a Skype call but rarely spoke. Hardly anyone spoke other than in the front room where people placed their orders. We really enjoyed the food and coffee. There was a nice selection of teas and an electic menu. Nice, unique, not for everyone, but if you have work to do in quiet with an interesting vibe, come on down!

This place is just poor. I wanted to support local business when I lived in Gainesville, but just couldn't with Maude's. The coffee is overpriced and takes forever to get out even when there are no other customers. It tastes very burnt most of the time. The food was meh at best. The attitudes of the baristas and managers are terrible. If you don't have a stereotypical hipster look, they won't hire you. It was implied that I was too clean cut to work there the times I applied (and never got a call back). Unfortunate, as I know some hipsters and they don't fall into that particular stereotype of being rude and self righteous.

1 Croissant and 1 quiche almost 19 dollars. Not big portions at all. Cool shop and awesome staff but the prices and portions are a little out of whack for me.
