Nice atmosphere, lots of vegan options, and delicious coffee and desserts!

Went there because I saw chocolate cake in the google photos and needed some dessert after dinner. Staff was quick, kind, helpful. And best of all the choc cake was exactly perfect.

Really really good breakfast sandwiches on croissants. Good coffee. But pretty slow service. Do not go if you are in a rush...

More rude "hipster'' staff with tattoos. The women especially. They'd rather gossip in the back and complain about their day than actually serve someone. Getting rung up and them swiping your card is most energy they're willing to expend.
What ever happened to warm, friendly service? You won't find any here.

The positives about Maude's, Good downtown atmosphere, great coffee, a breakfast sandwich that I've driven across town for. The negatives about Maude's there's only one glaring dent in the armor, and that's the service. It's slow and the server's look bored and act like they don't care that they just made you wait for way too long. If you aren't in a hurry then you may be ok with the slow pace.

It is well-documented that Maude's Cafe is the center of the universe. Where else do you go for the most exclusive people-watching-social-experiment in north central Florida? This cafe, right next door to the Hippodrome and other lively entertainments, either outside on the front porch to the universe, or inside where you can sit in comfortable air-conditioning while charging your computer phone.
The cafe has wifi and generous seating inside and out. I've read some reviews that slam Maude's because of customer service. Frankly, I've never been treated rudely by any of Maude's staff; I'm not expecting IHOP-level perkiness, just good coffee for a decent price. And the chance to sit and watch the world go by (or read a book, why dontcha, geez) is invaluable to me, as someone who is able to do both activities (drinking coffee while observing the universe at its center) simultaneously.
And they've got killer desserts with cute names. Come on down!

Definitely a hipster spot, but they have coffee, wifi, and a space to chill.

Favorite coffee shop in Gainesville. Relaxed atmosphere. Quiet atmosphere with vegan food options and a good beer selection if you're not feeling like coffee.

Great place to meet up and grab a cup of coffee. They have super cute outdoor seating, I’d say it’s appropriate for a mid-day date. I love this place, Gainesville staple.
