Nice coffee shop with friendly counter service. We ordered two Maude's iced coffees, one with coconut milk and one regular. The drinks were tasty and it's obviously a popular hangout for the local crowd. One small problem: They set the unmarked drinks on the counter, called my name, and walked away since there was a line piling up. Understandable from a service point of view. Problematic when you're lactose intolerant in a new town. Fixable with a sharpie.

This is an impressive coffee shop with a great back story. It's clean and inviting; it's a space you want to be in. They have excellent seating options. The coffee is fantastic and the baked good looked amazing. Maude's adds a nice layer to the downtown area. The service was also very good.

I have some nostalgia attached to Maude's (from about 13 years ago), and while that definitely influences the rating, I made it a point to stop in and grab a cold brew while I was in town. The good vibes are still there, the service was quick, and the coffee was (most importantly) good and strong.
Do yourself, and Gainesville, a favor and skip the corporate spots for Maude's.

A little overpriced for the product. Had a ricksaw sandwich. They were really lite on the bacon and the crust was really hard. Also had a chai latte which was a little too sweet for my taste. In addition, there were things on the menu that weren't available, like ketchup. Overall experience wasn't bad, but really don't have a desire to return.

A favorite spot anytime of day or night. A wide ranging offering of hot and cold beverages is matched with an interesting list of food options. The baked goods are very good and when the display case is full, it can make choosing a difficult task. Beyond that, the atmosphere is warm and one has a choice of 3 options. Inside is a traditional coffeehouse feel, outdoors is a wonderful European streetside cafe experience and the alcove of the Sun Center offers a unique blend of the two. All in all, Maude's is a Gainesville classic and worth making time for.

The food is great and the majority of the team is wonderful as well. Today's team member seemed to be taking her frustrations out on customer's. We can understand you being under staffed but what we can't understand is the attitude. I worked at a restaurant before and can usually see past these moments but this has not been the first time this employee has given everyone attitude..

Maude's is a nice place to sit and chill down town, especially if you're a smoker because they have a covered patio area. They also provide board games, and just an overall nice atmosphere.
Unfortunately however, their prices have become really unreasonable over the past few years, especially when there's a Starbucks across the street that sells everything they do for half price. I wish I could say that the quality is better from this locally owned small business, but it's usually not.
There's also usually a small congregation of homeless people loitering, who don't mind pestering people for change or smokes.

TL;DR: Customer service is really poor and the food is exceptionally overpriced for what you get. I felt disregarded and won’t be going back.
I see a lot of other people having similar problems to me regarding this cafe. I had been here once before and I was excited to go back and try it again, but was severely disappointed. To keep things concise, I was rushed to place my order despite the line being empty asides from me placing my order. I ask what teas they have and I get pointed to a wall, and then I got the earl grey iced tea and the vegan breakfast wrap. I was given my tea and told to wait somewhere else, like another customer, and asked if I waited outside would they let me know when my food was ready, and they responded with a yes. It almost felt like I was inconveniencing them by being there, but when a regular customer came in the staff’s entire demeanor shifted.
I’m waiting outside and it’s taking a while, but that’s okay because I assumed it was made fresh so I didn’t mind. I was going inside to ask for the restroom key and before I could even open my mouth to ask, I was told “we’re still working on your food we told you we’d let you know when it was ready”. It takes a lot to get me mad, but at this point I’m frustrated because of the clear lack of bedside manner and respect for the customers! I politely asked for the bathroom code and I was given a random number and no directions as to where the bathroom was. I went to the bathroom and somehow found it and then returned outside to wait for my food. I exited the doors in front of the area where you place your order and the staff saw me exit the cafe. I waited for 10 minutes and at this point I had been waiting 30 minutes for a burrito which is a bit extreme, so I go inside to check on my order and lo and behold, it’s sitting in the “pick up food” area. Mind you, because I was outside I had ASKED BEFORE GOING OUTSIDE if they could let me know just because I didn’t want to inconvenience them by waiting outside, and I was told.that was fine. The food was lukewarm and not worth what I paid for it, and definitely not worth the experience.
It’s a shame that such a rad cafe inside and out has such a poor environment and customer service. Hope this gets resolved in the future!

Came here with great expectations, left disappointed. I ordered ‘fancy’ quesadillas, two plain butter bagels, a sprite, iced chai tea and a café latte took more than 25 minutes for food and maybe 40 minutes for just my drinks.
Both bagels were extremely stale and the ‘fancy’ quesadillas were literally just cheese and bread with a bit of seasoning
Drinks took up to 40 MINUTES to come out when I sat down, ridiculous. Sprite was just a can and drinks were not worth it for the time waiting.
In total 28 dollars for everything not including tip. Not coming back anytime soon. Only redeeming quality is how vast the menu is. should’ve gone to the Starbucks across the street

The food is good but overpriced. However what is really throwing me off is the staff. I get that customer service is not what anyone wants to do for living but gossiping is not okay. I sat right next to a girl who was getting gossiped about from the cashier and the cashier was very loud. Instead the problem being resolved, the cashier who clearly hates her job decided to gossip with another customer about the girl. The other issue is that I was trying to decide what I want and the cashier was rushing me. Clearly who ever this business needs to manage it better.
