Great wifi and place go chill.

Based on reviews, I think I should’ve gotten breakfast bc I thought the lunch wasn’t very good and was overpriced.

I like to stop at local coffee places rather than Starbucks- usually so much better. This place didn’t disappoint. Conveniently located close to the highway, I saw the sign passing through on a road trip. Got the artichoke sandwich and ended having what was probably the best sandwich I have ever had. I don’t know how they came up with the ingredients, but it was filling and delicious. Meatless-which can be too light or too bready, but not this one.
Great job- wish I lived closer!

Great place to go visit with friends or take your computer and get some work done. Staff very friendly.

Very nice small town, independent coffee shop. We both had plain medium lattes which were quite good. Well worth a stop.

Hot chocolate was so delicious! Definitely the best we’ve had. We were on vacation visiting Pagosa Springs, & we’re glad we visited this coffee shop! My friend tried the peppermint mocha and was also good.

My husband and I both ordered iced lattes. He got caramel and I got blackberry white mocha. The drinks aren't terrible, they are just extremely average. There is nothing special about this coffee that separates it from other coffee shops or makes it stand out. Very very average

I have been to the coffee shop before when we stayed in Pagosa and the service and food were good. Today I had one of the worst experiences in customer service. The woman who took my order was very rude and after about 10 minutes waiting for my sandwich I just asked if it would be out soon. I received a very snarky comment from that same woman and she disappeared into the kitchen. Shortly after, another woman came out and tossed my food to me. Thank you, Higher Grounds, for a wonderful start to my day. I will not spend my hard earned money there again.

They messed up on the lady coffee in front of me and the young girl making coffee said oh well we don’t remake coffee there’s nothing I can do about it . Not very friendly and rude I wouldn’t come back here again!

Never asked for a name on the order and all three drinks (green goodness and strawberry smoothies and double espresso with heavy cream) and all three came up at separate times. Espresso was warm but still decent. Somebody took our green goodness smoothie and we ended up with a four berry smoothie. Strawberry smoothie tasted like strawberry milk and the Four Berry smoothie was almost nothing but ice and milk. Better coffee and smoothies in town by far, chose this based on reviews and location.

My family and I visit Higher Grounds every year when on our family vacation to Pagosa. I’ve always had a good experience until today. I ordered an oat milk latte with 3 shots of espresso. (My usual drink I get at every coffee shop I go to). And it tasted burnt. I tasted my moms drink (which was the EXACT same drink as mine - a 12 oz oat milk latte with 3 shots) and it tasted creamy and delicious. By looking at the two drinks you can see that my oat milk was burnt.

I kindly went & asked the barista behind the counter if I could get this drink re-made because it tasted bitter and burnt. She tried to explain to me that it’s because I got 3 shots of espresso so it’s going to taste stronger. I tried explaining to her that my mom got the exact same drink as me and hers tastes creamy but she didn’t listen. She offered to pour more oat milk in but that wouldn’t take care of the burnt taste of the oat milk so I declined. I never ask for drinks to be remade, so it was frustrating to be talked down to by an employee when I know exactly what burnt oat milk looks and taste like.

I have an immense amount of respect for people in the service industry, so it was very disappointing to be spoken down to in that way. I understand mistakes happen in drinks, but I don’t understand why this drink couldn’t be re-made and why she was so rude. Especially when I spent so much on a coffee, pastry, & a mug. This experience makes me hesitant to want to return to this establishment, which was previously a favorite of mine.
