Nestled just off the main road this is a hidden gem of a coffee shop frequented by many folks who want a fine cup of coffee or tea. We came early each day and they were busy. But worth the wait.

I generally only go through Pagosa Springs when I’m working because I live in New Mexico but I have to say I absolutely love stopping here at Higher Grounds Coffee shop. I’m always enticed to buy some zucchini bread and two lattes to go. Last time I was in town, or maybe it was the time before, I bought a beautiful photograph of an Appaloosa. There’s always something really special about this place.

place was cute inside, coffee not amazing. my chai tea latte wasn’t even hot a little bit and my iced vanilla coffee with cream came with just ice and coffee. no cream. if you’re looking for somewhere cute go here, but don’t expect good coffee.

Splendid breakfast burritos! They're freshly grilled and full of flavor. I wish I could come here every week for one. We've had several good experiences here. Highly recommend.

I always look forward to going to Higher Grounds when I'm in Pagosa Springs. I love the breakfast sandwiches. The people that work there are so friendly and very accommodating and really customer oriented!!

Well, I hate to compare service with a smile but I work at Starbucks and compared to the friendliness of Higher Grounds- Starbucks wins. Went twice and both times the cashiers acted like they were pained to wait on me. I enjoyed their coffee. Breakfast was good and muffin was very good but lacking on customer service. I asked about the wifi and she stated that it's been out for days so not sure if I could connect. I know that's not her fault but still I was looking for place to drink coffee- eat- and be on the Internet.

Best gluten free treats and all kinds of treats in town. They have an exceptional baker. They only complaint I've had is the coffee depends on who is working. Everyone makes it different. Good luck. There matcha lattes are some of the worst I've ever had.

I are a “make your own” egg sandwich on a croissant and it was delicious! Drip coffee was pretty great too!!

First time in the area and excited to try a local spot...From the moment we walked in they were so unfriendly at the counter. My boyfriend ordered a pour over ($4btw) the smaller side shave girl said they have it on drip and but he said he prefers the pour over. SHE LITERALLY ROLLED HER EYES. Obviously unhappy to do the work to make the pour over, or doesn't understand why he wouldn't want coffee that had been there for a while ( it was noon) vs a fresh cup. I'd prefer to support local but next time I'll go to Starbucks. Chai was alright

Disappointing, overpriced food: this past week I ordered one of the sandwiches as a salad, I paid $11 for a handful of spinach topped with three slices of lunch meat and some flavorless chopped green chili. No side/bread/chips or anything. I was still very hungry after I'd eaten it. And I'm a breastfeeding mom that was stuck at work. I have been going to this coffee shop off and on for years due to it's convenient location, but I think I will stop going altogether. I pay different price for the same things every time I go and the coffee is nearly flavorless and weak.
