First time at Philz....got to say they take their time to make a great cup of coffee. Service is great and they want to make sure you are satisfied with the coffee before you leave. All the customers and employees are in a good mood. Would chose Philz over Starbucks any day.

I was trying to find a place to get a mocha. Like in the name. Philz just has coffee. Plan accordingly and don't make the same mistake I did. Very humbling experience 10/10

An iconic coffee place in Palo Alto. The choice of great brews is amazing, but do not underestimate the strength of some of the brews. They are STRONG, well made. I did not see any milk... This is not the place if you like sugar-heavy and milk-heavy Starbucks type brews. This is for the coffee aficionado. It has free Wifi and was full of students, so finding a seat is a little hard. Take a small cup of anything and savour it.

A little confusing at first, unlike most coffee shops, you order directly with the barista then pay at the register after getting your drink. Great coffee options, I believe they only have pour over options, no espresso drinks.
Drinks can take a while when busy.

I'm giving Philz a second chance after being thoroughly unimpressed by the faux "espresso" I got there 2 years ago. Sadly, I have to give them a thumbs down on the coffee. Even their light roasts are dark, oily and a bit rancid. Too bad because the staff is friendly, the store is clean & comfy and they are a local business. By storing the whole bean coffee in large open containers the oils on their dark roasted beans are oxidizing and getting rancid. In spite of the creative coffee drink names, Philz can't hold a candle to leading local 3rd wave roasters like Blue Bottle, Barefoot, Ritual, 4 Barrel or Verve.

Best coffee
Great service.
Plenty of space and wifi.
Outdoor seating
Bring your own mug and only pay for a small.
They never have Blue Jamaican Mountain here, which is fine cuz there is wayyyy better on the menu

Parking, ordering, and indoor drinking are a bit cramped, but everything else is a pleasure. Lots of outdoor seating, delicious and strong coffees, friendly staffers, and tasty breakfast burritos. Price is a bit high for coffee, true, but if you're judging it by the price/caffeine ratio, you're still doin' great at Philz :D

Blown away by the coffee quality and my new favorite breakfast item, their avocado toast. The baristas' attention to detail and service is impressive. The ordering process is a little complicated and intimidating at first because of no signage or explanation - but it's worth powering through. If you are ordering coffee and food, go through the coffee line first, then head to the payment counter and repeat your coffee order to the cashier and order food. Then head back to wait for your coffee, then go back to the cashier for your food. No need to look like an idiot like I did. Learn from my confusion and enjoy!!!

I really used to love coming here, for some reason it has lost the warmth. Painted over the awesome mural, and staff doesn't seem too concerned with customer service. The barista who helped me refused to greet me...instead she kept saying "What can I get?" "What can I get?" ...Really? What happened to "Good Morning!, Hello!", or even making eye contact with your guest?

Best coffee in the Bay area there's nothing much to add. The place however is always full of people but that doesn't stop the baristas from being extra nice to every customer. Of you haven't you need to get the mojito coffee.
