The barista who served us was friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us a lot of information about Philz, and also recommended specific coffees for our tastes. In the end, she actually made us a couple of drinks to try, and said they were both on the house, which was very surprising and generous! We left a substantial tip, and will definitely come back!

Who needs fancy-Schmancy lattes when you can get a damn fine cup of drip-brew coffee? I was recently in the area and it was indeed refreshing to see a spot dedicated to making brew-to-order cups. Love the fact you get to select your beans and the staff then grind the beans and sweeten and milk-fortify your drink to your liking.

Philz is definitely my favorite weekend coffee shop! It's easy to put in an order online with the app, and the wait for your order isn't terribly long.

Great place to go and study for hours at a time. Lots of people study there so it helps you get in the mode. They have two large study tables and lots of bar type seating next to the window. I have the Philz iced tea every time. Philz iced tea is a strong tea with lots of real mint. I get it with 0 sugar

Overrated: Coffee was Okay. Crowds Made It Impossible to Chill
Ordered a ginger snaps which was quite nice. Friend didn't enjoy his brew of the month and left it almost untouched. The place is teeming with people. I guess some people like the buzz and hence the reviews. Older people like me didn't appreciate the crowd quite as much.

One of the more pricey cups of coffee you'll have, but the quality to back it up. $4 for large. Pour over per cup style. I had a Dark, "Aroma", I believe it was called. The barista's recommendation. Super personable team. Cool neighborhood vibe. Was hopping on a Saturday morning.

It would be five stars, but their gluten free options are terrible sugar bombs. Please get gluten free bread! Ok, now, 2 tips 1 parking can be rough, if you are in walking distance just foot it. Two, you must Order ahead with the App, if you don't go spend forever waiting for your coffee, indeed you might spend forever just waiting to order your coffee and then wait and get again forever just to pick it up. For the uninitiated they only do pour overs... do not embarrass yourself by ordering a latte or an espresso. We have had some European guests that found this hard to handle!

Philz made me enjoy coffee for the first time. Their Silken Splendor is a drink that you absolutely have to try. I usually order it medium sweet (because I have a sweet tooth) but the beans could stand alone if you truly wanted them to.
I think of going to Philz coffee like going to a wine tasting for coffee. There are so many subtle flavor notes that you can actually taste. I recommend reading all of the descriptions because they are super accurate and give you a wonderful description of each option.
My only complaint about this specific location is that I think the service is much nicer at the location on Middlefield. The two times I have been here over the other location the barista was pretty rude to me. This location has a much shorter wait, but I think that you sacrifice some of the hospitality that made me fall in love with Philz in the first place.
However, the rudeness doesn't make the coffee any less delicious.

It's Philz. You know it, you love it. How do they make that mint mojito iced coffee so good??? This location was *packed* on a Saturday, and took 10–15 minutes from walk in to walk out with a drink. Totally worth it, just know it's not quick.

Always our first choice when in the Bay Area. Never disappoints. Always delicious. Slow but truly worth the wait.
