Plumes Coffee & Tea

This was our go-to breakfast spot while in Monterey. We even stopped twice in one day because we came back for boba tea in the afternoon! Great coffee and good food.

Great location to watch as they as setup the farmer's market. Plenty of seating and if you are bored, they also have reading materials. I ordered the cappuccino and got 10% coffee and 90% foam - not what I expected. Ordered a soy latte and it was much better. Give them a try and see for yourself.

The espresso I got was too bitter. I had to add a lot of milk to make it drinkable and only drank half of it before tossing it.

Super nice staff at this downtown cafe. I had an outstanding hot chocolate; our group chose an array of coffees and tea. Everything was well prepared.
We stayed until closing. No one pushed us out the door. We just noticed a couple of lights being dimmed. The staff was gracious and we politely said good bye. This is a must stop.

What a find! Being from out of town this place was a gem for breakfast with chi and coffee! A must!

Great tea/coffee. Fantastically friendly staff. Very relaxed atmosphere with your stereotypical assortment of studying college students and older folks reading newspapers. has a great feel and is certainly a place you'd like to relax in for a few hours during a rainy day.

10/10 would use as a setting for a classy novel.

Unfortunately, "Plumes" lives up to its namesake -- if you go here at night, and even often during the day, there are people who sit outside and smoke cigarettes and cigars. Their smoke blows into the cafe, and it's disgusting. I had to dock a star for that. Otherwise, this is a great place. Nice menu, nice service. I just wish they would enforce some kind of no-smoking policy for their outdoor seats. As it is, I can only recommend this place if you can tolerate secondhand smoke.

Apathetic barista didnt bother to ask what i wanted after my wife ordered then gave us the total for 1 drink. Seemed bothered by our intrusion on her life.

Really good as far as coffee places go. Kind of tight in there but the the drink menu is sizable and their baked goods are sourced from local bakeries. Probably my favorite drink that they serve is the Thai Boba Milk Tea latte. Its a guilty pleasure and the view from inside the eating area is nice aswell
