Not worth the money one bit!
I don't know how they justify charging almost $5 for a cup of coffee. Not a latte or anything special, just coffee. Not only that, the quality of the cups and lids are terrible. The coffee leaked from under the lid... low quality material. Also, they didn't have milk! What coffee place doesn't have milk?!!

I'm not a coffee person but this place made me fall in love with coffee. Got dancing water for the first time and it's delicious.

I love how much care they take with each drink. I had a simple iced black tea but they took the order seriously and made it individually even added a sprig of mint.

It's been a while since I've been to La Jolla Philz & by awhile, I mean pre-covid when I attended ucsb & would visit my friend at ucsd. Visited a couple days ago with my family and it's simply just unfortunate to say that the complete vibe of the whole store is different and not in a good way, more corporate than local feels and that's not just because I've come to learn there's less than a handful of staff left still present from pre-covid that basically made the store one of the best stores I used to love to visit. I learned that the store is under a new manager, so that pretty much seemed to fit the bill - when management changes, a great store can become even better or go south. 2 stars - the coffee is still great. New staff/vibe of the store is qustionable. I was behind a woman at the register ( you order at the register now, understandable since they used to take orders w/o names and other people would accidentally grab your cup - covid) that accidentally forgot her wallet. The worker offered her a drink on the house which I found to be thoughtful since she seemed a bit stresssed. I overheard the customer thank the worker heavily because she really needed it. She was a doctor. Recalled the worker was a a pre-covid employee and asked for her name - Haley! Always great energy! When it was time to pick up my drink, that's when the experience shifted. Picked up my drink and was making short convo about pre-covid philz with barista at the bar and this other employee who I noticed to definitely be new, interjected rudely and pretentiously insinuate as though he 'knows' more than the female employee I'm talking to. It was rather odd. Blonde male. As a male, I'm going to call it as I see it... toxic masculinity,mansplaining for no reason...but nonethless, barista made me a great coffee! Staff and new feel of the store questionable. Heard some previous employees I enjoyed moved to managing encinitas and del mar, if true I recommend taking the drive down to these stores!

I love this place. I like all the options and the personal service! I especially like getting the tantalizing Turkish iced. Pro tips: you can actually get any of their coffees iced! Also, if you're hungry, their avocado toast and their almond-butter and jam toast are really great!

We had Philz Coffee a number of times in San Fransisco on our vacation and really enjoyed it, so we drove all the way ay to La Jolla from East Santee to get coffee since they don’t close until 8pm. About a half hour drive. We arrived at 6:13 to find this piece of paper posted in the window changing the closing time to 6pm. Very disappointed.

Probably the best coffee I've had. The staff is incredibly friendly and they stay true to their mission of serving a cup of love! The line might get a bit long, but that's because it's popular--and for good reason. All coffee is brewed by the cup, strong, and full of flavor!

I absolutely love Philz coffee!! I am not a huge coffee drinker but that Mint Mojito is magical! I also love their Philz Iced Tea. It's a delicious and unique blend.
It can get very busy and steep each cup individually so if you are in a rush download the app and order ahead of time. I do it every time now.

The customer service here saved a mental disaster with the in laws.

Cut to the chase, the Philz team is AMAZING! In laws are visiting, being fickle in laws. We order Philz for the morning so we can get out and away for a bit while picking up coffee. Inlaws change the order 4 times on us while we're trying to go pick it up which confuses us and the baristas (so sorry!). We get to Philz and pick up everything and as we sit in to the car to head back we spill 4 of our drinks. The team remade the drinks for us and gave us towels to clean up.
