Stopped by here to study before work. It’s pretty unique in that they have 20+ different roasts and you choose which you’d like, and then they make you a pour over. I tried one of the lighter roasts; it was dank. Great place if you like actual coffee. I also tried a tea and a cookie. Both were good, although they only have a few teas to choose from. All of the employees I interacted with were super nice. There’s not too many seats, and given its proximity to UCSD I could see it getting insanely crowded, but when I visited I didn’t have trouble finding a seat. I will definitely come back again!

I don't understand how does the app / delivery time seem to be so inconsistent here. Why say does it say that my drink is ready, when it isn NOT in fact ready.
It doesn't seem to be a problem for the Philz Palo Alto or SF branch.

MACY is amazing! So knowledgeable with her coffee... I wasn’t sure what to get but she asked me a bunch of questions to figure out what to make me, she took the time to make sure she made a drink I would love! I came with my family on a Saturday afternoon and we were all SUPER impressed with her customer service skills and friendliness! She made our experience great!!

This place only serves Black coffee, with adjustments with your preference of cream and sugar, though for diabetics they do serve sugar alternatives and vegetarians they have soy and almond milk. The pleasure is that they have something like 6 choices of bean origin for roast type ( green, light, medium and dark). It is one the most damn fine cups of coffee I've ever had.You won't find any espresso, pumps of flavoring , foam or whip topping, just some fine roasting and we'll prepared coffee. They serve food but I did not partake so I can't tell you about that. The staff are well trained, I told them my preferred roast and the pointed me in the bean origin under dark roast I like and they were spot on. They are also very patient and kind, often handling new comers well and respecting their regulars. The space is comfortable spacious and only cluttered by college students, but I won't complain it's their space. Plenty of ample seating and no one monopolizes the space the music isn't my taste but is isn't too loud that you can't put in ear buds.
If you like coffee to taste like coffee this is the place for you.

Wonderful food and coffee. Service is excellent. Can watch while they make your coffee. It's really popular so crowded. Yet doesn't take that long to get a seat and not that noisy.

The service here was wonderful, but everything else about the place was very disappointing to me. The atmosphere is fine -- hipster-ish, but comfy and not snobby. The descriptions of the coffees sounded amazing and I was happy that there was a focus on pour-overs rather than on espresso drinks, but I was very disappointed when I figured out that the descriptions were not of flavor profiles, but rather of the ways that the blends were flavored! In other words, the flavors aren't of the beans themselves (which were fine, but not amazing) -- they are added. There are plenty of other places around to get better beans/coffee for the same price or less (or, for a little more, way better beans), so I will not likely not be coming back -- though the location is certainly convenient and it is still a decent coffee (better than Starbucks, for example).

My first time In Cali and I definitely will be back. The environment was rather odd and the coffee was kick awesome. It’s usually packed and full of college students say make sure to be aware of that. Customer service is fast and nice and it is located near a very nice area worth going to.

Customer service was dismal, but that's not why we'll never go back. The employees were half naked and hair everywhere. Most of the female employees were wearing spaghetti strap tank tops with no bras. Not only completely inappropriate, but reaching over open coffee grounds, pastries, and food with underarms exposed was quite frankly nauseating. No hair pulled back. Not even a hat in sight to at least appear as if sanitary measures were observed. Disgusting

At times the line could be quite long. I find that if you go in the early morning (before 7 am) there's practically no wait. Otherwise using the mobile app is best to avoid the line.
