Took care of us without a reservation. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Excellent food - nicely prepared and presented. Interesting menu with nice choices. Serving sizes were more than adequate. Looking forward to returning.

My partner and I had a delicious dinner here while on vacation. We had the steamed mussels as an appetizer which were excellent. For dinner our server recommended the Duck Confit to my partner and I had the Steak Fries, but of which were great, but the duck was truly amazing, if we had more time in town, I'd go back again just for a full serving of that! We also had desert of the Chocolate Creme Brulee and Strawberry Sorbet, but of which were delicious. The service at The French Goat was very quick and efficent and our server was very friendly and knowledgable.

Impressive! I had some issues with a gift certificate I purchased for my kids and had to call for help. The owner was helpful and prompt and made sure my kids had a great dinner.
Small town restaurant, big city style and class.
Excellent food, superior service!

What a pleasant dining experience my wife and I had at your restaurant. Each table so unique and perfectly set. The allure and charm in this wonderful historical setting had us the moment we walked through the beautiful front door. We were greeted by at least three servers and Sara made our dining experience just memorable. The professionalism in the staff was equalled in the meal that was prepared perfectly and seemingly just for us. We love it when we are so moved by a dining experience such as this.

"fine-dining" in a casual atmosphere is absolutely wonderful. No social pressure. Delicious foods. Fabulous pricing.
EDIT YEARS AFTER THE ORIGINAL REVIEW:
My partner and I miss this place like crazy. We knew it was a gem when we lived in Lewisburg, but after moving across the country we realized just how special it really is. The dining room and atmosphere, the people, the menu, we miss it all.
If you ever get a chance to stop by this amazing establishment, please do. You won't regret it.

The French Goat is “The G.O.A.T.” Service, food, ambiance was all exceptional. Owners greeted us with a warm welcome and spoke with us about wine at the end of our meal. All the staff worked very well as a team and are clearly a happy work family!

Phenomenal. If you’re staying at the Greenbrier, I would skip the overpriced, underwhelming food in the main dining room and come here instead. The duck confit was delicious and tender— not chewy at all. The chicken was also perfect— the definition of savory and perfectly cooked. We order the whipped goat cheese and baguette as an appetizer and we found ourselves unable to stop raving about it. Beyond the incredible food though, the service was second to none. We actually were admittedly difficult customers— we had an hour and a half to eat and make it back to the greenbrier for an appointment. The servers were not only understanding but wholly accommodating— we made it back with time to spare. If we visit the greenbrier again— or find ourselves anywhere within 50 miles of this beautiful restaurant, we will 100% make a point of coming back.

This sophisticated quiet restaurant in this delightful town made our visit amazing!! The wait staff is helpful in a very unusual way as REALLY wants us to know the options.
Our appetizer was a fish dish I had never experienced a sort of fish and chips but much much better. The mussels were delightful. The steak superb. We have visited Lewisburg for our entire lives and this is THE BEST!

Everywhere my wife and I visited in Lewisburg said this was the best restaurant in town. They were absolutely correct! The food was excellent and our waitress, Leah, felt like a close friend by the time we finished dessert. Come one, come all!

Made reservations for 9 for Easter Brunch weeks in advance. They took our phone number and claimed to make a reservation. Low and behold, they did not make the reservation as claimed. We showed up for brunch, the man at the front desk questioned us as to whether we made the reservation for the correct restaurant which was insulting, made no effort to accommodate us upon their error, and was dismissive. We were extremely frustrated with the dismissive behavior and rudeness. But we found a wonderful replacement. Our group went to the General Lewis Inn for brunch. The food, atmosphere, and service was delightful! We were thrilled with our experience.
I fully expect a snarky and rude response from the owner or staff for this review. They’ve responding to each negative review in the past with low class and low blows. Perhaps making some changes would insure there wouldn’t be similar complaints posted.
